Ebay's new Buyers' protection fee from the 4th Feb

I'm a private seller. Items I sell are between £2.90 - £10. Is It just me or will ebay's new Buyers' protection fee from the 4th Feb make it near impossible to sell competitively. A few months ago Ebay got rid of Sellers' fees for private sellers, which was a welcome move. But this new change and getting rid of multi-buy discount for private sellers will make it worse than it was with the original fees.

it is free for me, i do not pay any promotion fees or any other kind of top up fee.  Buyer pays a fee, i have not reduced my prices and they are still buying, slowly but surely has as always been the case for me.

Another rip off scheme to generate more profit.

Thieves.

If the item wasn't as described the onus I'd on the seller to meet return costs.

If the buyer just changed their minds,it is the buyers responsibility to pay the return

Simple instead of eBay profiteering.

When buyers change their minds, they regularly claim that the item is not as described so that the seller is liable.  It doesn’t matter what a seller says, eBay will always side with a buyer. They say that as they are not in a position to check items, it’s best to just return items to the seller and refund the buyer. 
but this means that the seller is always out of pocket. It’s never been fair and it’s very rare that a buyer will be honest and just say they want a return and pay for it themselves.

I’ve had an item delivered today, bought from a private seller. 
it’s arrived in a box emblazoned with stickers saying “thank you for buying from my small business “ , complete with a business card inside, with a website for future purchases. 
absolutely furious 

cost me a couple of quid in BPF and denies me consumer rights 😡😡😡😡😡 

this is a website I won’t be using in the future and a seller I’ll avoid

As a buyer, I would be very pleased if a trusted seller offered me [shall

screws both buyers and sellers and offers nothing of value

From your method of selling it’s already been established you are a business operating on a private account so deny buyers their right to change of mind returns. You also haven’t answered how you address EU GPSR which businesses that post into the EU are required to adhere to. Credit for complying with HMRC regulations but what about the rest of a business seller’s obligations.

EU GPSR is about product safety as I understand it - please enlighten me as to how what I sell presents a product risk to European Consumers and how I am in breach

The EU requires businesses to jump through a number of hoops to sell into the EU unless the item they are selling is in the list of exemptions. It doesn’t matter that you think your items don’t present a risk these are the EU rules and it is what is required of business sellers. There are plenty of threads discussing the issue I am not going to do your work for you, but from your response I’ll take it you’re also not complying. As for the right to a change of mind returns it’s legislated for within consumer law, again plenty of posts covering this topic.

But if you want it - Consumer Contracts Regulations 14 day cooling off period which gives a right to cancel and return. Exemptions included goods that have been personalized, perishable items, and digital downloads.

You have been given chapter and verse of the laws and regulations that mean a business seller needs an ebay business account or they break the law.

They are also set out in the ebay business policies.

Incidentally,  while most are civil offences there is a criminal one to do with misrepresentation by a business as if they are a private individual.
