Greed, plain and simple.

Does this mean that Royal Mail will no longer bring a prepaid label using simple delivery? I use Royal Mail click and collect because they bring a label. Will this happen with simple delivery?

Someone on another thread said with simple delivery we have to print the label and then we book royal mail to collect rather than when we purchase postage/collection direct from their website and they bring the label.
Not sure the source of this info tho.

I have in times gone by tried to book Royal Mail collections from my house only to be told the service isn't available at my address.
31-03-2025 11:43 PM
They haven't thought this through properly.

I've been doing that for months same old thing will pass it on. No thanks they can do one

I lip read which is why i can't phone them. Just as well because they would not like to hear what i want to say

This is from the 'Shipping made easy with Simple Delivery' email from eBay, which many of us received this morning:-
'Once your item sells, you’ll receive both a printer-less QR code and a prepaid printable label, so you can choose what’s easiest.'
'Drop off your item at the nearest carrier location, or schedule a home collection and you’re done!'
Sorry I don't know if it's possible to get RM to bring the label.

This is a complete nightmare. Royal Mail's bring my label service is what I and others rely on.

I did buy a Ebay label once to test and could go into the RM site and book it there using the tracking number. But there's no guarantee it will still be the same everything changes daily. Nothing but simple delivery one minute and now under 100g @ £10 might be custom . I can't believe anything right now

Delcampe have a music section. I had a problem with Mangopay can't take money out as no photo ID but they use paypal and other things too. It's a collector's site

What was broken that needed "fixing?"

I was willing to try managed payments, i was willing to go with BPF, i was willing to go with waiting for my money but NO WAY am i willing to use SD even for one item. As soon as they try to interfere with my listings i will be gone.

I think that would go down as the understatement of the decade!
01-04-2025 7:44 AM
wonder if they will apply this to any item that already has a bid on it????
01-04-2025 7:55 AM
They did with BPF.
I remember watching my bookmarked auctions when it was launching. There were a set that switched to BPF with 3 hours left off a 7 day auction.
They would have been really peeved.

I use Royal Mail's bring my label service. Are thermal usb label printers any good for labels as I don't want to buy a large printer. Do you need to buy ink?
01-04-2025 11:05 AM
Agreed...i'm thinking of putting my sales on hold (again!) to see how this farce plays out.
I tend to spend on ebay whatever i've made on ebay - if i'm not making anything from them then I ain't going to be spending anything on here.
"Still" waiting for an "adult" to come back into the ebay boardroom and put an end to this nonsense.

It's one massive confusing mess after another - exactly who at ebay is making these beyond stupid decisions?
Still not happy that I have to wait the best part of a fortnight to get paid for sold items.

With ebay activity volumes in decline they are trying to squeeze more and more out of those left without tipping enough people to conclude we have had enough of all this and walking away (or at least reducing their engagement levels).
Ebay are clearly putting their own commercial motivations above the buyer and seller's best interests.
It's the doublespeak explanations that's most insulting - they are not being candid.
I'm surprised Stupid Delivery would not be considered by the EU etc anti-competitive as they are basically using their dominance in the online resale market to stop us buying postage from anyone else.
Similar to how Microsoft used their dominance with Windows to get everyone using Internet Explorer. At least Microsoft didn't go as far as to technically prevent us from installing Netscape Navigator.
Ebay are giving us no choice but to buy their postage on most items. They are presenting it as us still having a choice of their supplier carrier but we really have no choice but to buy postage from ebay even if it's more expensive than buying direct from Royal Mail etc.
