EBay changing my listings from ‘collection only’ to ‘postage’ sneakily

Hi all

i have a few larger items I’m selling, like a set of 4 chairs, a junior bed, large wooden storage box, etc.. Anyway, I listed these items as collection only with no probs. Few items like the fridge, washing machine, etc have gone already. However when unsold, EBay is relisting with ‘postage only’ instead…

In noticing this (and it’s been a few times now) I’ve gone in and amended…

but it still keeps happening.

i’ve literally just home on now to revise the toy box listing (has a few days left to run yet on listing) from postage only to collection only, and save…

Yet when I go back to check-it’s showing postage only…

What the hell’s going on here?!?! Does anyone know?

It already causes me a misunderstanding on a wooden tallboy-as EBay had amended to postage only-and when the item sold-the guy was waiting for me to post….

Apologised and sale was cancelled.

But seriously, this is getting frustrating now…..

I manually change back then hit ‘save’ …
But then when I check again-it says postage option again….
And I’m like ‘nooo!!!!’

It wouldn’t let me change them back because there had already been bids…

Of course it would be morally wrong to change a listing that already has bids...

Ebay are becoming the masters of doing wrong around here.

So the poor buyer might find the postage has gone up or down or changed carrier after they have already placed a bid? I sold something on ebay tonight and the buyer messaged me to check I was using RM as per listing. Some buyers (including me) care about which carrier is used.

Ebay don't care and would rather keep the buyer in the dark if it helps them make money quietly putting low grade Evri horse meat in the ready meals and hiding it behind standard/express delivery options that don't identify the carrier.

Hi

did you get this resolved. This has just happened to me too. I’ve tried adding a note on the item and it wouldn’t let me. Nor can I relist it since I just cancelled it.

Re: EBay changing my listings from ‘collection only’ to ‘postage’ sneakily

Hi, I didn’t really get it resolved. I ended up posting one set of shelves so as not to disappoint the buyer. With the others - which sold for 99p - I explained and apologised to the buyer and asked her to request a refund. Thankfully she was lovely & said she’d already realised something was wrong with the listing and that the same thing had happened to her when she was selling. So no huge harm done, but no thanks to eBay. I think I just won’t sell with them any more. Good luck with your sale -hope it works out

Hiya,

Why won’t it let you cancel and relist?
I kept selling the option of ‘the listing contained an errror’ when trying to cancel.

I have since sold some items… but the 2 larger ones I still have: junior bed and wooden toy box seem to have stayed as collection only.

Initially I added a note on the ‘item description’ section stating *** Please note-this item is collection only from north London! No postage or courier service available. However postage error when listing and unable to undo. Thank you ****
