EBay Confusion

Like many others..confusion reigns!..

Latest point….

so, I’m a private seller dealing in small quantity, low value.. postcards.

If I post abroad from the UK  it costs £3.25 with Royal Mail.

However with EBay’s new policy, they charge £2.72 SD…..it’s so good of them to cover my costs..or am I missing something?

You might have the global shipping programme ticked without your knowledge

simple delivery takes care of the first bit of the journey to the gsp hub (the 2.72j

your buyer will be paying a lot more than that I believe

in any case no one should  be paying the 2.72

postcards  can be sent in a letter with stamps when you list them with custom delivery (which should automatically come up for this kind of item)

open to correction if I got this wrong

maybe post to gsp hub has to be tracked 😐

International Sales for Private Seller using Simple Delivery.

Click on Global shipping when listing.   The £2.72 SD courier will be paid by the Buyer to get the item to the UK Global Shipping Depot.

The Buyer will also see on your advert the cost to send the item from the UK GSP Depot to Buyer's Country plus any Customs, VAT charges they need to pay, if applicable.

Ok..re listed a card at below the £10 selling price…I can choose postage options…

above that..EBay dictates my postage options…the question is why!

EBay Confusion

Because they’ve decided items over £10 need to go tracked

or they’d like for them to go tracked for some reason , reason unknown

🤷🏼‍♀️

reminds  me of the line in Aliens…..

for  reasons unknown

(ripley)  NOT for reasons unknown

🤣

sorry , I made  myself chuckle

this whole business is not very funny though

I can't quite believe that a piece of paper inside a piece of paper costs nearly £3 to post just because it is valued at over £10.

I noticed the Chinese sellers add 53p to their listings for delivery to be sent all the way from China.

Perhaps you could package all your items up and send to a Chinese middle man and have them dispatched back to the UK when they sell you would be better off.

I checked one above £10 and one below £10. They both show £3.90 for Austria, for example.
