I only occasionally sell stuff. I recently sold an item for less than a quid with a few pounds postage. The item was damaged in post (thanks Evri). I wish to refund the buyer for the purchase price and postage. I don’t need them to send back to me. When I go to the item eBay will not let me enter more than the bid price for the refund. Will eBay automatically refund the buyer the postage cost if I put full refund in? Or how do I refund the postage? Seems to be no obvious way, but the buyer should not be out of pocket.

Did the buyer open a case or are you trying to do it without them opening one?

Was this ebays simple postage thing?, I know with gsp you only refund the amount you received and Ebay cover the rest so it might be the same. Had a nice surprise with a wrong item sent to the US, was happy to refund the cost of the item and let them keep, the buyer got refunded in full and I only refunded the item cost, ebay refunded his postage.

Unless you're actually selecting to issue a partial refund and putting in 0.99, then when you click on the refund button the buyer will receive a refund of their full original payment.

Did the item include anything on the Evri no compensation list? If ebay deduct the refund from your account you may not be able to claim off Evri
