Someone found the dates yesterday and posted them. Just thought it made sense to make it easier to find.
It's in the Help Section under Opt out
Simple Delivery will be the only listing option as of 15th April and they will start adjusting current listings from the 7th April.
So at least we know where the Iceberg is now.

It’s in the email or message everyone got today
someone also asked customer services and got told SD won’t be mandatory for items under 10£ and less than 100g

I did see a paragraph stating "ebay has negotiated favourable rates from" hence the "up to 20% cheaper" quote, although the prices offered are only slightly below the regular price for D.I.Y. ( hence ebay become the wetherspoons of the postal world)

Coming soon to ebay: mass exodus of private sellers.

This is stated in the "what is simple delivery" blue oblong click on in the email you may have received from ebay. although it does not actually state what is considered a low value item.

I sell and buy vinyl records for a hobby. I have removed most of my listings and instead I listed them on Discogs.
Myself and other collector friends have noticed a massive down turn on items for sale on eBay the past month+
All we get now is constant auto relisting's of expensive records from business sellers that has been doing the rounds for years.
Plus now USA sellers crop up in all UK searches, that's something I hadn't experienced before, a few months ago it was just the UK listings, eBay must be padding out searches with USA listings, even when I filter them out they appear.
eBay is dead, they have killed themselves with the stupid Buyer Fee and now the forced on us mandatory Simple Delivery.
I've been seeing exactly the same in Warhammer models but I'm also getting Germany, China, France, Italy and Australia, not just USA.
Going by my saved sellers Id say less than 10% of them have been regularly active since BPF started. Not blaming them. I pulled all my listings February 3rd. Wasn't going to play Guinea Pig for anyone.
But as I was saying then, they've decided to release 3 platform killers at the same time and the worst was always Simple Delivery.
I think disco may have some competition soon.

Another point about this "take the qr code to the "shop" and they will print it off business: how do i know what is inside each package if all packages are the same size(ie 7 singular cd's all in seperate protective envelopes with additional cardboard protective packaging). At least when we could hand write the name/address we could fill out that info when packaging that item was completed. especially if you do not have a printer.

I didn't know it was possible for a private seller to pause sales rather than delete them. How do you go about that?
31-03-2025 3:53 PM
Yep, that's me gone too. The prices are too high for Royal Mail plus I will have to add extra to my prices as some of my boxes cost as much as a £1 each and very large ones are £3.50. Whereas now I can use RM at a lower price than ebay are quoting and cover my packaging cost. Evri is a no-no for pottery. My local Evri is great but out there in the rest of the UK, I don't think so.

I am not angry about it or any of the other changes they brought in. No point in getting yourself all worked up over something that they will only change if and when they see it is costing them money! As soon as i read about the changes i decided i would give the BPF and wait for money a go and see how it worked out, for me it has been okay. I also said that no way would i be doing SD and i will be leaving as soon as it comes in. Who knows i might get another half dozen sales by then......

I hear you - I want to run my account my own way too, a way that fits with my time, energy, and my way of doing things, including being able to choose the courier I use for shipping and insurance, and what I charge for it - which is usually less than ebay anyway.
I've never had a negative or even a neutral from a buyer, so I presume I've been doing something right, so I don't need yet another level of control.
Hence when I heard the news today about enforced 'Simply Delivery' , I really thought 'that's it - I' m out', but then I read your post where you mentioned pausing listings.
Can you tell me if there is a time limit on that, and how do buyers know that that the listing is paused?
Thanks.

Best bet is upgrade to a business account , instant payment , NO SD and you can charge your own postage, win win
31-03-2025 4:06 PM
Yes it’s in the time away section. I believe it’s for 15 days max.
So you can go on time away and allow sales or you can pause them until you get back.
I know it sounds petty but why should I fix what isn’t broken. I get good feedback from my buyers and that’s how my private account has grown and continues to grow through feedback good and bad. I use it to shape my way of doing things and now after foursish years I’m finally settled in and have my head around things and have figured out a way of selling that is well received and works for me in my personal life. Emphasis on that because I’m not a robot I have responsibilities outside of eBay and a real life that often can and has impacted my selling and I’ve always been upfront about that and yeah have lost sales on occasion due to honesty but I don’t mind since I was honest and it has at times boosted sales and people’s confidence in me because I was upfront.
My point is that basically you can never please everyone, so I try to aim to please as many as I can and do things as best as I can, unfortunately as the world is just so fast paced now and immediate that the art of patience has been lost. EBay isn’t making things any eaiser. Delivery and online shopping is hard and takes a lot of time and patience, Alas the weather and personal life will always have an impact on it. For it is a never one size fits all so why should we all be made to have a one size fits all.

one place is in the e mail they sent to us but in actual fact it (as usual with e bay) is ambiguous, it says 'there'll be a few exceptions, LOW PRICED, BULKY ITEMS(i put the words in capitals), and local pick up which aren't eligible for simple delivery'. Yes, i know that you should not put a comma before 'and' but no one ever accused e bay of using the correct grammar. Does it mean low priced but bulky items or low priced and bulky items......

if that were the case then the majority of comments on this forum would have been gone by now. Think you are being a touch paranoid with that comment.

each to their own, i am not in a tiff about any of it. I will be leaving, their site, their conditions but also my choice to not play by them.
31-03-2025 4:10 PM
but i would not rely on what someone says customer services said!
31-03-2025 4:10 PM
Well if they meant separately I think they should have put "and/or" between them. That covers all the possibilities.
Without the "or" it looks like a combination.
But it could just be eBay's standard anti transparency , clear as mud approach.
If nobody knows exactly what they mean, later they get to creative with bs.

Really? It's not paranoia; it's the truth. For a start there are some people's names and a certain website that are completely censored on these boards. There are also other matters - which if I mention what they are will likely cause this post to vanish into the ether - that seemingly cannot be discussed. Bizarrely one such subject explains why one of eBay's longstanding (and despised) practices exists. However, even though in no way would I be bashing eBay I cannot tell you about it!

I understand what you are saying but many posts are going unanswered........even on the Member to Member Boards. Regular responders are giving up responding. Various reasons.
They are becoming outdated.
I have been a responder for many years and it was hard to keep up with new questions basically every two minutes. These have just turned into a moan section .....and yes i do understand why.
We will, in my opinion, just be replaced by some daft Ai bot in the near future.

You aren't a daft AI robot?
& yes, I am joking in case anyone gets bent out of shape again.
