Clearly eBay have gotten this badly wrong. But when you check it out, all they really had to do was go back in time and change the seller fees to what the buyer fees are now and everyone would have been happier.
(ps I still think the cap is terribly high).Yea, that hasn't gone well.

buyer fees are only charged when items are purchased from private sellers.
this means that all those business sellers trading on private accounts are costing buyer's more.
Private sellers don't hold stocks of, and sell, brand new items

Generally, I agree. But sometimes we do. I built a good few mountain bikes over the years. A personal hobby thing. Source parts as cheap as I can over time. Build them up, they would be in brand new condition and when i felt like it, strip them down and sell them as parts. Some parts made money, some parts lost money. All I know is it kept my hobby going but it wasn't a business.
