Can anyone give me a definitive answer regarding Simple Delivery and if it will override my UK listings if I choose Custom Postage when relisting something.
I have a load of under £10 CDs to clear before I guess I’ll walk away from eBay for good due to the recent changes, some of these I can batch into parcel sized lots, but some I only have 1 by a particular band/singer so I have to list them in isolation.
ATM Simple Delivery is way to expensive for a single CD so I was wondering if my old/still existing shipping policy would still work if I listed these single CDs using that option.
Does anyone know?
Many thanks in advance for your help and advice. Oh and apologies if anyone else has asked this already in another thread.

I'd try listing them to find out. (you can always delete the listing if it all goes pear-shaped!)
I think the only way to see if you're still able to use Custom Postage is to try it.
As far as whether CDs per se, are exempt from S.D. is another problem
Waiting to be told a definite yes-or-no answer from ebay seems to be a bit of a waste of time.
A list was put up on one of the other threads with the categories, sub categories and items which were exempt from S.D. (obviously the under £10. still applies)
The list was of things that *would* fit in a normal (flat) envelope and therefore be exempt. But CDs, DVDs and various other items were on that list and there's no way they'd be posted in a normal flat envelope....... so it didn't answer the question! Just made things more confusing 😕

All my large letter, under 100g, under £10.00 packets are exempt from SD.

There is no definitive answer. It was said in community chat that they are rolling it out on accounts now not by a certain date. Some people will have it and others may not for weeks or months. How it being put on accounts i don't know, alphabetical order? county? new accounts first? It's a good way to keep people here waiting and hoping.
The best way to find out if you have been affected is to keep checking your listings. I have put a few back on for this reason.
Yes you may still be able to list with the custom option so give it a try. My relists are still with my own postage options at present

Really!! blimey...😲
We've had 'a' definitive answer from (I think) Marco@ebay of Large Letters *not* being exempt!
Any updates on that Marco?

Thank you everyone for your replies. 👍
I guess I'm just going to have to try a few and delete them if they go pear-shaped.
The CD reseller marker on eBay must be sizeable enough for someone to realise that if you can't combine single orders that a £2.74 delivery charge for a CD is just not realistic. I know this rate can cover you up to a kilo but CDs tip over into being a packet once you hit 3 in an order anyway (unless they are the more modern thin style digipak that is)...so its yet another one of those things someone at eBay really hasn't fully thought through.
I'm available a consultant if you need help eBay (competitive rates). 😁

eBay should have taken a lot more time & trouble over the T&Cs, before even thinking about launching a radical new postal system...
It is bad enough that they have taken away the option to choose your own carrier & set your own price, but it's completely unacceptable to leave people not even knowing if/when their listings will be 'switched over', or what can/can't be excluded from Simple Delivery, or what to do about combined postage etc etc...
With such a wide variety of items being sold on eBay, it was ludicrous of them to expect this inflexible system to accommodate everything, from CDs to chandeliers, without doing a lot more testing to ensure it would be fit for purpose.

I have no trouble selecting custom postage when i want to send item using Royal Mail second class at a low cost. Obviously this is for low priced items that i can afford to lose. Luckily it has not happened so far.

While that may well be true, you don't mention if your over £10 / over 100g items are now on SD.
On my private account, all my large letter under £10/100g are still on custom postage, but so are all my other items, as SD hasn't yet reached me.

So it is working for you? Mine should be, the custom postage option is there but when I use it I just go around in a never ending loop of "fix an issue in delivery" until I give in and use SD when it works first time.
