Today I am removing all my listings from Ebay - my last two sales have been disastrous - the sellers have been refunded for items that they have received. In one case I was in contact with the buyer who told me that there was no way he could tell Ebay that he had received the book. In another case the buyer simply didn't reply to my 'reaching out' to them. So bye bye Ebay enjoy, spending my funds while you can.

No need to take that drastic action and remove you items. Under Simple Delivery rules if you have used an SD label and service , and the item is lost, eBay bear that cost and refund the buyer, you get to keep the original payment, so there is no loss to you as a seller.
If the buyer received their item after eBay have refunded them, and is honest enough to inform you of this, they're asking to repay you , but this cannot be done now through eBay.
They need to repay you either by cheque, bank transfer or with a PayPal Friends and Family payment or, you can send them a PayPal invoice.
If PayPal is used, email addresses need to be exchanged, this can sometimes be found with the order details >> Show Contact Info. If not and you need to ask the seller for this, make it very, very clear in your eBay messages, as eBay do read these, the reason for these exchanges. Make it clear it's not to be used for an off eBay sale.

Good Morning Davids
You are 'cutting off your nose to spite your face'. Simply heed TG's splendid advice. Carry on selling.

Hello Tressygirl and one other,
The two sales combined were worth less that 30 GBP - so I am basically wrtitng them off. I am a small scale seller now retired. I just find it frustrating that Ebay takes the proceeds from sales and then expects the seller to take the hit if things don't work. I have other means of selling my goods and I have no wish to help the Ebay billionaires make even more easy, risk-free, money of the backs of ordinary citizens.
So, I still have a nose on a smiling face...

So what happens when a buyer says e-bay sent the item to the wrong address and the seller was using a pre-printed simple delivery label over which he has no control over the address on the label as simple delivery labels do no allow the seller to alter the address on the label? The buyer has opened a non receipt case and e-bay are advising me to refund the buyer when none of this is the sellers fault.

If you posted an item, under Simple Delivery, to the address on the label provided by ebay, then you are not responsible for the refund.
Ebay are.
Who is telling you to refund the buyer? Is it a human being in C.S.? (An awful lot of those C.S. agents talk complete cobblers....)
You need to speak to a C.S. agent who knows the system, and the best way to do that is speak to one in Ireland. (they seem to have more common sense, more agency to actually do anything, and they speak much better English!)
The best chance of getting Irish C.S. is by requesting a call-back first thing in the morning; 8.00 am! Best of luck 😀
And *do not* refund your buyer yourself. Chances of you getting that money back, once ebay C.S. have worked out their a**e from their elbow, is pretty slim ☹️

And if you decide to return, it looks like you would do better to switch to a Business Account.
