By mistake I pay for Royal mail collection instead drop off

By mistake I pay for Royal mail collection instead drop off. Can I drop it off in post office instead wait for collection?

I accidentally selected RM collection and couldn't find a way to cancel it.  I took it to the PO as usual - no problem.

Next day RM turned up to collect, so I apologised and told the guy it had already gone.  He looked rather sad, and it made me feel quite mean.

Thank you for fast reply. Unfortunately I'm going on holiday tomorrow so if they not showing up before 11:30 ,I have to drop-off the parcels in post office

Postie wont care, will knock and get on with their round. Post office will accept although will be a small fee if i was tracked 24/48 rather than 1st/2nd class.

Since the early October change to the postage prices, the 20p surcharge for PO drop-off has disappeared.

A few extra pence for the business piggy bank.  Every little helps.

Tape a brief note on your front door for your postie, to say you dropped it off.
