Hi
So I sold my gaming laptop for £570 buyer has paid but I read so much *bleep* about how eBay sides with the buyer when they open a case regarding item not as described then they send you back some other *bleep* with a tracking link then eBay refunds and your out of pocket
The sellers profile states 1 feedback, member since 2023 and location is Nigeria but the delivery is going to somewhere in the UK
Does this sound dodgy to anyone else ?

If the UK address is a freight forwarder then the buyer can't use the 'not as described' claim system.
Check how the Money back guarantee works.

I'm surprised that you even have to ask that !!

Would the fact that buyer is overseas stop them doing a chargeback and if the account is dormant could they not claim hacked account.
That country used to be scam central.

That settles it I'm cancelling the order and processing a refund

Does it sound dodgy? Yes.
I’d take the consequences and cancel the sale. But then I wouldn’t sell a £570 games console on eBay in the first place. Far too risky even if the buyer is in the UK and has a million feedback.

Id take the cancel as well. I had enough problems when I sold a motherboard. Buyer messed about with it, broke it, then opened a return stating it was broken. It wasn’t as Id just taken it out of my pc as I upgraded. When it was returned, I could see the damage instantly, I disputed the return but ebay sided with the buyer and I was left with a useless broken motherboard. That was the last time I sold any tech on ebay.

Good on you, you have made the right choice. Too much to lose.
