All my selling prices have suddenly gone up by c10%. I've discovered it's due to the imposition of " Buyer Protection" which I don't recall eBay informing me about. This has effectively killed off my seller account as I will no longer be competitive. Aa a private seller and a buyer for over 20 years I've never had a problem so I don't understand why this imposed charge is necessary - or is it just another way of charging us little guys fees?

An eBay message / email was sent to all members on the 3rd January explaining the new Buyer Protection Fee, perhaps yours went to spam ?
The BP Fee notice and information is in eBay News >> Announcement, this link explains it :

I believe that eBay will be stopping private sellers from using multi quantity listings too any day now as well.

Well the plain fact is that business sellers trading as private sellers are causing buyers to pay more because the seller is evading eBay fees.
the buyer pays no such charge when they buy off a registered business seller.
So the buyer is now being personally affected by those sellers - a private seller cannot have stocks of brand new items for sale.

Very strange another sparkplug seller that doesn't know what a business is!
Coincidence?

if you rescued them 20 years ago then surely they cannot be described as 'brand new'?

Well I dunno about this... they should be described as 'New-old stock", or possibly "Unused-old stock" ?
If they've never been used they are new' ISH!
I can sort of sympathise with this seller; he's obviously a hobbyist in his field, and hobbyists do tend to have *loads* of stuff and a lot of duplicates. And classic enthusiasts do flog stuff to each other because a lot of the time it's very difficult getting classic spares from normal parts shops.
