Beware the DHL Express phone call charges

I had to order two wheels for my car from two different sellers on ebay. Both of these wheels were sent using the DHL Express courier.Because i couldn't take delivery where i am at present living i had to arrange with DHL over the phone for me to collect from one of their local centres on both occasions.DHL must be using some kind of premium rate phone service because this series of phone calls has ended up costing me over £30.BE WARNED.At a guess i'd say that this is their way of 'persuading' you to use their A1 rather than a costly human being to make your arrangements.NICE PEOPLE.

Re: Beware the DHL Express phone call charges

Did the number start 084, 087, 090, 091, or 098?

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Re: Beware the DHL Express phone call charges

It's an 084 number.Would you describe that as a premium rate number?.I've been doing a little further digging into this.I don't normally pay attention to my mobile phone account as it behaves in a fairly stable way.I've had the account for many many years. On my account controls page it says that in 2011 i set up a block that would prevent me from phoning premium rate numbers!!!!!.Thanks for taking time.

Re: Beware the DHL Express phone call charges

084 numbers do qualify as premium numbers but apparently not the type covered by your block.  They are often call centre numbers.

Next to the number is meant to be a warning of the price per minute and that your phone provider may also charge a fee.

It's not DHL  - 7 pence per minute for 084 numbers - it's your phone company

Re: Beware the DHL Express phone call charges

It does seem to apply to these 084 numbers.I've managed after some considerable number of attempts to talk to a human being at my mobile provider. She at first tried to claim that i'd stopped the block at some point, which i hadn't and never would. She then claimed that my recent tariff change had stopped the block and that i should have re-impossed it.I pointed out that the block is still showing as active on their website. Finally she had to admit that it had never been lifted and that the charges would be credited back to me.Another reason to be on your guard.

I'm sure they are both making money out of it.

Re: Beware the DHL Express phone call charges

OK,so,why not just have a standard telephone number. There will be a reason why they have opted for a PREMIUM rate line.Perhaps you would be good enough to explain what that reason is?

Re: Beware the DHL Express phone call charges

You've already provided the answer to your own question... the fault lies with your phone company... perhaps you should call them back and demand the reasons why from the culpable party?

Re: Beware the DHL Express phone call charges

DHL are saying that they do receive a share of the calls cost.  So I am not sure they can also say they make no money from them.
