Hi all, I've been on eBay for 25 years buying and selling. I've paid my fees, dealt with happy buyers (and the odd not happy one) and sold a lot of my personal stuff. Over that time, I've used that money to buy other items from eBay.
I still have stuff to sell, but my buying is decreasing where I am now actively buying elsewhere or direct from businesses. Those businesses I've supported over decades will no longer be getting my custom. Not their fault either, but as a private seller, I can no longer sell on here due to increased costs and now simple delivery. It beggars belief that eBay would consider this a good move as a buyer/seller. It's not only the pricing, postage, the variety of goods, especially collectables has plummeted and the pricing for some items has become ludicrous. So, to me, it appears as a buyer/seller we are on a downward spiral, ever rising costs, little to be gained profit wise and less variety. What a sad end to what used to be vibrant and fun hunting for those things you wanted.

Unfortunately due to ebay's relentless greed they've brought in messy and confusing changes with complete contempt for those who then have to then try to understand and use ebay. They don't care about the end user, just making more money:

Yes, the only reason eBay has introduced Simple Delivery is to make money. It is not simple, and it will not make things easier for sellers, or buyers.
If they had just stuck with the listing & FVF system, eBay could have avoided all this upset and upheaval.

I'll definitely be listing less for the moment. There are so many potential issues with Simple Delivery. The thing that has annoyed me for a while is, why shouldn't you be in control of when you post things, and how long they take? If someone can only send things on certain, days, what's wrong with that is long as it is made clear on the listing. If I know in advance something I really want might take over a week, I'm happy enough with that.
I worry about how this affects my local post office in terms of reduced income. If it closed, I would have to drive a few miles to the next one, which is no good if I only sell one thing. I feel eBay is pressurizing us into sending things as quickly as possible, which isn't easy unless you are a business geared up for it. As for the barcode thing, I hope they have set it up right, because I can see people getting their parcels mixed up when they are down at their local post office waiting for address stickers.
