Anyone understand this price difference ?

In my selling list the current bid price is different to bid on the item. I am sure I started it at 99p but first bid said 1.75 now bid is 1.43 but shows £2.21

A little concerned.

It's the new buyer protection fee which is added to the price

No you can't opt out. 

It's a new "benefit" to buyers

So the "private sellers sell for free" thing was a 100% lie. 
The buyer spend budget doesn't change, the amount the seller gets is still less. 

There's a phrase for this.

No, the seller still gets what they listed the item at, the BUYER pays the extra fee that goes straight to Ebay.

No, the seller still gets what they listed the item at, the BUYER pays the extra fee that goes straight to Ebay

No, the buyer has limited £x.xx to spend. They can be billionaires, they will limit when they pay. All the money, still comes from the same place and goes to the same place. We can argue this all day long, it's still the same.

Not sure what you are arguing about here, the buyers ability to afford an item ?? 

Fact is, you the seller still get the full asking price, there are no fees that you have to pay.

There are two ways of looking at this. Buyer or seller perspective. Or the third way : ebay perspective. 

Market forces, buyer and seller willingness and ebay's ability not to care a jot about anything. 

Are you as a buyer paying what you don't have ? 
Are you as a selling willing to give it away ?
Are you as ebay praying you haven't shot yourself in the foot again ?

or.... are you someone on a forum who is stuck in a way of thinking that is limited. 

ps, the item is for auction. The opening post clearly states that. Buyers limit ALWAYS governs an auction. The seller gets the price less the fees. The buyer gets the item or the entire money back. The seller never sees the fees.

Its just one big con by eBay and those that can not see need your head tested ,We buyers have protection anyway always have done. we do not need or will not pay a premium for the pleasure,we buyers will just buy on the river or else where Ebay wants its sellers to be saints, yet they think they can now rip the buyers off

I am not playing their game sorry to the private sector sellers not throwing needless extra cash to get what I get anyway I will just buy on the river with all the protection without the extra sting..

Its worked perfectly well from a sellers and buyers point of view for over 20 plus years. 

eBay just bring back the fvf for private seller that on a business point of view you should never of removed in the first place.If you where trying to bring in new sellers you want to try and look after the ones you got first.

Treat your sellers and Buyers with the respect and trust they Deserve.. 

To all them in the ivory towers leave the site alone,if you are board go play whack a mole or tiddley winks but for the love of God leave the site alone and let sellers and buyers do what they do best and have done since them in charge were in dippers. we are not slaves to the o'great ones in the ivory towers we are in fact independent traders trying our best to earn a little here on what used to be a good and trusting site to buy and to sell eBay used to be nice and friendly now it just seems like dog eat dog.

Ebay are adding the Buyer Protection Fee so if you still really want to show your  listing with a .99p start  as in the old days you now have to have a listing start of  23p.  eBbay adds  4% + .75P.  Then if your listing only sells for your .99p you will make just .23p with Ebay taking the rest.

With regard to auctions, @beyourb3st  is right - the seller may get less for the item than they would have done pre-BPF.

When I purchased things at auction, I had a maximum bid.  Before Buyer's Premium kicked in, the seller would have received my maximum bid minus fees and taxes.  When auction houses started adopting BP, my maximum bid didn't change - so the seller got less than they would have done before BP.
