Can anyone who has sent an antique to the US confirm that antiques are still exempt from tariffs?
Just tried a test post on Royal Mail's website for an antique map of German origin, and an antique map of UK origin, with the code 97060000, and it calculated zero tariff (but still charged the 50p fee).

Was the antique made in Britain?

Nope - one was a map manufactured in Germany, the other a map manufactured in the UK

First I am not sure you can consider antiques as exempt from tariffs on your example as maps are considered as 'informational products' like books, photographs etc; which are exempt in their own right.
As I understand it, the 50p charge by Royal Mail is an 'administration' charge which will apply to any package for confirming the package status to US customs.

Both are exempt looking at https://hts.usitc.gov/search?query=4905
Do I trust Royal Mail and USPS to get it right though?
