Account suspension to Permanently Suspended in 9 minutes

I was invited to become a user on my employer's ebay account. I accepted the invite, set up password, 2FA, user profile. I didn't list, buy, nor sell anything.

A couple of weeks later, I received an account suspension notice as it appears I had abused ebay under their User Agreement. I didn't realise accepting an invite to become a 2nd user on an account was abusive activity.

The suspension was put in place while they requested more information from me. Seemed reasonable. They just needed proof of name, address, and proof that items I'd listed where in my possession (I had not listed any items) OK, I thought, I'll dig out some proof of ID and submit it and all would be fine.

The notice had arrived by email very late in the evening and I read it over breakfast the next morning.

However, I then I discovered a second email. This one arrived 9 minutes after the first account suspension email.

This second email advised the account has been permanently suspended so that I would not be a risk to the ebay community. I would not be able to buy, nor sell, nor set up any new accounts.

It seems I'd missed the 9 minute window of opportunity to submit proof of ID etc while I was asleep in bed. I guess you snooze - you lose!

So that's a life-time ban from ebay after doing what? - I will never know.

I've never felt so criminalised in my life.

It's wild out there, be cafeful how you go.

Good Morning Beast

You can't have been suspended as you have 5 items currently for sale.

Thank you @dancewithadingo  - the account I'm logged in here hasn't been suspended.

The new account I set up to become a 2nd user on my employer's account was suspended. I can't post here using that account because it's been suspended.

Account suspension to Permanently Suspended in 9 minutes

Good Morning Beast

Thank you for the clarification.  Surely if you have been suspended on your employer's account that also means that they will be suspended as well.

Additionally I was under the impression that all accounts associated with you will also be suspended ie the one I mentioned earlier that has 5 items on it.

This could get very messy, very quickly. Just wait and see what other respondents have to say on this situation.

It would have been far easier if you had just operated on the one account. What was you reason for trying to open a second one?

It seems that business accounts allow additional users to be added so they can manage various aspects of a business depending on the permissions set my account owner/admin. I needed access to be able to manage order processing and despatches.

These seems quite a sensible and effective solution for multi-staff environments. It shouldn't have any relation to whether or not I have an account in my personal life.

"It would have been far easier if you had just operated on the one account" - this may be easier but would need the username, password, and phone/email for SMS authentication to be shared with everyone needing access to the account - I suspect this would infringe a user security data privacy policy.
