Account restricted

Hello All,

My selling ability has just been restricted with no prior warning.

I'm not an active seller and have only sold a few things over the years. When speaking to support, they've said:

'We do try to provide the best environment possible for all sellers on eBay, but we also have our requirements to remain on the site. Without these requirements, there is no way for you, our sellers, or us to remain competitive and successful.'

When i pushed further, i got:
'Your account has been restricted due to your selling pattern. I understand that you wish to list more items and start selling again. However, in order to keep our website a safer place for buyers and sellers, your account is restricted from selling indefinitely'

This has since bamboozled me further, as how can you be restricted due to a selling pattern and what does that even mean?

Am I missing something obvious?

Thank you

No other member will be able to answer this for you.

Ebay won't discuss this with you and, unfortunately, an indefinite restriction means you won't be able to sell again.

Re: Account restricted

Thought that would be the case, now the fun of trying to get my money withdrawn from the Ebay balance -_-

Re: Account restricted

Looking at some of your sales, it could be due to quite a few brand new items, with multiple quantities, selling on a private account.

Re: Account restricted

There are a lot of posts from sellers who have faced the same issue.

Generally, payments are held for a period but paid out within 6 months.

Re: Account restricted

If this is a sign of eBay taking action to counter the number of bogus sellers on the site, then I'm all for it. I don't think it is though; if it was, we would be seeing far more posts like the OPs.

I do think eBay could/would have issued a warning first, if it was as simple as trading on the wrong type of account. After all, by restricting the account "indefinitely" they are cutting their own revenue. So I think there must be something else involved.

Re: Account restricted

I completely agree. If i deserved to be banned, fair enough but why not just tell me lol, and even better, send a warning beforehand.

To me the business account shananigans is a gray area anyway. In my case i purchased multiple of an item due to it being on sale with the intent to use it. Months went past and i thought i may as well sell the remaining. I'm at £695 y/y with half of that coming from a single item.
