I wish Ebay would bring back seller fees for us private sellers & at least give us the option to opt out of this ridiculous 'Simple Delivery' nonsense altogether! I don't sell much, i'm not interested in QR Codes as i'm not on TikTok or like 10 Years old, plus i don't have a printer.

coudnt agree more. i think im going to need to suspend my account in a couple of weeks if i cant find a way round this
i sell an average of half a dozen items a month, fairly low level mostly vinyl. i am one of i susoect a large number of ebay sellers who are not prepared to be railroaded by ebay to the extent they are trying on. problem is the altwrnatives are not great either. discogs for example requires paypal usage and that is somewhere else i dont want to go

All this free listing has done Is have is have sellers PUT crazy high un achievable prices on there items, people are just using this free listings to load there lots on eBay at the most stupidly high prices, and it just do,s not matter if the lots do not sell. The site is full of greedy sellers who are just looking for some idiot to fall for there crazy priced item.. it no longer matters if it do.s not sell its FREE , JUST WHAT are eBay thinking

Haven't noticed this at all. Surely what a seller wants is to sell something. Bit silly to put an 'unachievable price' on their items.

Sooner later you might catch a mug ,, so they have nothing to loose if it sell a bonus if it do,s not nothing lost
08-04-2025 11:16 PM
Surely it has always been the case that some sellers put "high unachievable" prices on their lots?

Getting rid of SD - a frankenstein
would be a start fees or no fees
there’s is nothing positive about it or helpful to anyone
I have no idea why it exists I

I know why it exists - ebay's greed.
08-04-2025 11:51 PM
Then that makes them liars at best
who wants to deal with a liar
08-04-2025 11:59 PM
Agreed, is it also another lie that the simple delivery postage prices are 20% cheaper? I can't see how they are.

They never stopped seller fees. 3 day auctions, international sales etc carry them.

i will be leaving ebay after many years simple delivery witch costs more than what i charge for postage and a buyer protection which i supply free by getting certs of posting for all the low priced items i sell all this will result in my auctions will get lower prices i will be gone before April 15th when simple postage becomes compulsory i would need to be simple to use simple postage

You assume that every item has a queue of buyers lined up.
There are also lots of niche items that may sit on eBay for months - or even years - because demand is limited and not because the price is high. Listing fees would mean these items would never be listed.

Last year, with no fees for Private sellers, how many people would have placed a bet on seeing this statement a few months later ? 🤔

I’d be much happier with seller fees. It would be like the old days. If you had something to sell, pop an advert in your local paper and pay a fee. Simple. Atleast then a buyer can be sure they will pay the price as advertised. I have pulled out of purchases recently due to strange BPFs added.
Protection from what exactly anyway?
We all know the risks in sending stuff via any couriers - some areas are riskier than others. Just wrap it well.
It feels like they are ‘protecting’ me from dodgy sellers. errrr not exactly flattering…

free listings made no difference to my prices or amount of items and how long i keep them on. I have always listed at the price i would like and leave them on until i either drop the price or take them off and sell at car boot. (or of course until they actually sold). May have taken a long time to sell but as a private seller doing it as a hobby/pastime for me and my relatives i was in no hurry. Anyway a 'crazy high price' is relative to whether someone wants something or not.

but that was always the case, free selling made no difference to most of us.

to make a fat profit for e bay, or so they think! Whether it actually happens like that is another thing.

The one good thing eBay could have done to tackle potential issues with free listings is to allow buyers to block individual items.
I do get tired of the same old irrelevant items appearing in my search results emails week after week after week...
