Pay Per Click

Hi everyone, I'm curious to hear your thoughts on eBay's 'Pay Per Sale' advertising. Do you think it's worth using? What has your experience been with it?

I have a regular customer who frequently purchases the same item in the same quantity, yet the sales are being marked as coming through a paid promotion. I'm fairly certain they're not clicking through any promoted listings. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Pay Per Click

It is entirely possible they are constantly searching and clicking on your promoted listing.

Or if they buy more than one a month - the promoted listing impact lasts a month after a click - so would apply to any number of sales from the same buyer.

In terms of is it worth doing - our business does in some products but at no more than 2% - but I wouldn't use it across the board. If you do use it, you should just treat it as paying an additional Final Value Fee frankly.

NOTE - from 24th June ebay are changing how General Promotion attribution (or Pay Per Sale) works. You will be charged the promoted listing fee for EVERY sale within 30 days of any one person clicking your ad. The amount you are charged will depend on if the product in question is still in an active General Promotion campaign and you'll be charged the fee the campaign is setup to at the point the sale was made.

Pay Per Click

On this subject, im still waiting an answer from Kat for a few weeks as to why the 'Views' click total goes down on auctions?

She confirmed a 'View' as being once an item has been clicked into by a potential customer, but its hard to imagine how the number would ever decrease.

Reliability on data is not a strong point for ebay over the years.
