can we just have a look at how much we pay fee's on top of the postage cost as business sellers ...
in overall they would like to see us offer free shipping but we all know thats just a mind trick and sellers still got to pay for it . ebay is already pushing for us to use tracked 48 rather than 2 nd class which you might say is only 10 p more , though the price of parcels is to go up again next month . evri is alright as a cheaper option but yodel has had far too many delays across the nation in the last months .
in the last 2 years i only upped my postage cost from 3.90 to 4.00 as not to put buyers off . last week i had a message from someone interested to buy something of a lower value and that 4 pounds for a parcel was too much . after i explained it was only 3.35 for the postage ... about 60 p in ebay fees on that postage cost and a mere 5 p for my packing material ... even when re using boxes its a few pennies loss but i would not want to push it any higher charging more than 4 pound postage.
compared to private sellers who get no charge on their postage it feels they have an advantage over business sellers that aint fair . i have a private account as well where i have put some of the lower value items as a test and have noticed sales picked up for the same range of products that stalled on my business account . all for the sake of 60 - 90 pence in fees for postage on which sellers don't make profit .
i don't think buyers understand some sellers just get silly fees and have to charge it trough to them which puts them off from buying .
