hello every one I have read the new postage simple delivery for small private sellers like me and I am very concerned its going to be ebay who decides what courier they think I should use, and even more concerned the buyer will choose .this is hermes evri the worst couriers I have never known, I am selling my antique dolls and send them the quickest and safe with my choosen courier .fully insured and next day delivery which I have done with my items for over 17 yrs. I charge my buyers a set amount but if my box and packing goes over I pay the extra for peace of mind. and the thought of them being sent via hermes evri scares me and I would not trust them with a teddy bear, ebay must let me choose my own courier but I am told I have no choice, antiques no matter what must be sent in a manner they deserve and the simple delivery is not . simple delivery is just that for clothes shoes and not breakable .not for antiques and items of great value, I have had my dolls for over 50 years and simple delivery is not going to happen, I do not want to leave ebay but I will take my antiques some where else, so many great sellers have gone, but ebay does not take the time to ask why. ebay must look after the private sellers like me but I doubt it .the big boys are more important,

No sorry not 6ft but it was probably about 4ft it was big as in you would struggle to lose it if you tried to on purpose.

but no courier quite tops Evri.
Absolutely. ebay has done a deal with a courier which has admitted it will lose 8 million parcels this year. ebay has either been misled by Evri on the quality of service that will be provided or its poor service levels have been ignored, which would be a bad indication of how ebay regards it's buyers and sellers.

I don't know how that compares to say Yodel Direct but considering what I have read about Evri they probably excel and win the lost packages away year in year out. One thing which would change my calculation to using Simply Delivery would be if eBay is really going to fully cover loss and damaged parcels instead of the endless restrictions which all couriers operate just none like Evri still.
Yeah I bet buyers are really annoyed at paying the buy and even though they often won INR, INAD etc does the new buyer protections they are paying for really providing anything substantial and worth £10 or whatever the figure it actually is.

The services for simple delivery are both drop off ones no pick ups unless you offer free post and do your own postage opt out.
Collection is available with Royal Mail when using Simple Delivery:
'Collection is available for items sent through Simple Delivery with Royal Mail labels only. You can book a collection on the Royal Mail website after you create your Simple Delivery label.'
You can opt out of using Evri for Simple Delivery in the Postage preferences section of the Seller hub:

Cutting out the local post offices , which will affect their income and staff, not to mention many have used post offices direct for a multiple of reasons and it has worked perfectly for them, and now choice to manage their account effectively is removed...for example some sellers ( comments on this board) are unable to measure and weigh parcels - it is all done for them at the Post office so it is exact.
Everyones local community is broadly and adversely at risk if selling, shopping etc online.

Why don't you just bypass simple delivery using a) straight custom service bypass or b)free postage and add it onto price?
Is Evri really charging for collection? I never use it buy Royal Mail until a few months back was charging me to drop off at a post office instead of waiting in all day for them to collect it. Think Yodel Direct (different from Yodel standard) provides free collection still if you bypass simple delivery.
As I said earlier I would happy split buyer fees if it meant I will permantently able to bypass simple delivery. I don't want anything to do with it or Evri the "I can lose a 4ft brass vase and not find it shipping provider" xD

So if using personal postage choices eBay have stated that there is no " protection" from eBay?
Is this the BPF or the MBG or both?
Every postal carrier has " coverage/protection" and most of what eBay are stating is actually covered by the postal carrier anyhow there is nothing new.
Those who have used the platform responsibly should have no issue a- choice - postal carrier ( using their "cover") Sellers can offer their " protection" in there own conditions of sale, which many sellers do anyhow.

Fragile items such as glass, ceramics etc are not covered for breakages on any standard delivery and even if sent special delivery they have to be packaged extremely well, boxed and with correct packaging materials conforming to the guidelines on the Royal Mail website - even then you have to prove all of this with complete photographic evidence and more plus proof that the item was damaged due to their mishandling. Many couriers exclude breakages of fragile items even if only partially made of glass etc from their compensatory cover. Check the eligible and non eligible items list.
There are specialised companies for larger higher value "fragile" items and these are very expensive.
The post office staff always have informed me that fragile items such as glass or ceramics are not covered for breakages. Luckily I have never had any loss even when I have posted a complete tea set, internationally a number of years ago.
Under the old eBay terms ( unsure about the new) a china item purchased for a birthday present arrived damaged due to not being packaged correctly and eBay refunded me within a day.
I am unsure if policies on fragile items are any different between non business and business sellers.

It is, however the Royal Mail prices are higher - I can send Tracked 48 cheaper online or at the Post Office

I’ve opted out of Simple Delivery only to find the RM prices are more expensive! I made the mistake of setting my own postage price of £3.95 (cost of RM 48 Tracked) and eBay still charged me £5:15 😡
