Why has my postage charge changed on its own?
I currently have a sewing machine for sale which weighs 18Kg including packaging.
When I listed it I was forced to use Simple Delivery which offered two couriers Evri and Royal Mail.
I decided to exclude Royal Mail as I had heard of anecdotal pricing problems on heavier items.
The item was listed and it showed the buyer would pay £10.80 for Evri
I recently noticed that the postage had changed to £7.18 and now includes both Royal Mail and Evri, I didn’t do that.
I was surprised but I was able to revise the item back to Evri only at £10.80.
But without my interference after a couple of hours it went back to £7.18 and showing both Royal Mail and Evri.
At the time of writing this I changed it back to £10.80 Evri only. So when you read this it may have changed yet again.
Also I noticed on my selling page it's showing the latest bidding price and against it + postage (you pay)
But buyers are seeing it as they are paying
What’s going on! Can Royal Mail really send a 18Kg item for as little as £7.18
Or am I going to end up paying out of my own pocket?

I did actually revise the selling price down to £550, maybe i did not check on the postage amount at that time and it reverted to their new post specs?
So if i send this with a courier, what does the unreasonable buyer have to do his end, i provide the detail with tracking, then when its delivered the funds become available?

Spoke to a lady at customer services and got very confused, but established that of course ebay rules changed in april and altered the postage, i should of checked in on the item and revised it to my own postage so i will honour the deal, i think i am in the wrong here, you live by the sword, you die by the sword.

See if CS can tell you when the postage was changed and by who - you or something at ebay. And ask them your payment questions/see if what I have put is accurate.
In terms of your funds, basically yes - it may not be immediate, the process is changing and sometimes there are "holds". Best I can do is link this https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold?id=4814 If the buyer leaves positive feedback it may speed up when the funds become available, but at that price I'm not sure. Otherwise the buyer doesn't have to do anything.
If you've really had a bad time with the buyer, consider whether they might present more problems for you - e.g. raise a item not a described case - if they do, you'll be paying for the tyres to be returned too!

It is a very odd situation - because the April change was about changing items to Simple Delivery. When the item was sold it wasn't on Simple Delivery.
Another idea you could do - is to start a new thread - explain the basics of the postage changing in the thread title - maybe put something vague like "postage changed for unknown reasons (NOT to Simple Delivery)", describe in the body what happened and put the item number. Possibly one of the ebay reps might see it and take a look at the item history. Whilst this thread doesn't contain any secrets - I wouldn't reference it. Hopefully they will then just look at the facts presented in your new thread and investigate. I would suggest not criticising the buyer nor ebay - just take the view, you don't know how the postage changed from £95 to £5.88.

I was using shipley for the quotes and another company i used before and they were coming back very high, the buyer got a generic shot of a quote on Paisley Freight, they were much much cheaper by alot!!!!...needless to say i should of got them to quote before this and will be using them from now on!!!

from experience i found by selecting just one from the two offered couriers, evri and rm, the posting went up.
(evri £10, evri and rm £5) mine now is set to both as TOO, let buyer pay.
20 kg is the weight limit, though evri is 15kg!
select both couriers, medium parcel, 61x46x46 and 20kg, ebay will select the appropriate label.

did it?
I got caught out twice, printed label and the weight was 100g
had to cancel label.

tip, always select both, posting will be higher with just one.
Providing right parcel size and weight is selected ebay select the best courier,
i always select buyer pays Too.
