Simple Delivery

Hi, I'm writing this just to register my opposition to the new "Simple Delivery" (ha!!) rules, in the forlorn hope that someone from ebay may take note. Ive been buying and selling on ebay for around 20 yrs. When I sell I want to use Royal Mail, I want to write the envelopes myself, I want to set the (very reasonable) postage costs myself. I don't want ebay dictating to me. Simple Delivery has actually made something that was already simple and made it bewilderingly difficult. It's the final straw for me. I'm not happy with other recent changes such as buyer protection and ebay hanging onto the money from buyers for as long as they can before giving it to you. That's me done with ebay I reckon. I shall try to avoid buying or selling here ever again, unless they see sense and put things back to how they were, in particular scrapping "Simple Delivery".

Simple Delivery

Are they completely removing custom postage ,   I cannot seem to find a definite answer anywhere ..  I just want to know that . So from the 20th of May I will not be able to use my own postage stamps that I purchased for posting ??

Simple Delivery

They are doing all this to actually get rid of Private Sellers like you and me. They have had so much hassle from HMRC with thousands and thousands of people not paying tax on what they earn. HMRC have had them running round in circles chasing our NI numbers and grassing everyone up. To save the hassle they are now doing their best to get people to become a Business Seller where this Simple Delivery and Buyer Protection do not exist. Simple Delivery is for Private Sellers only and Buyer Protection is included Free of charge for business sellers.

Ah right, that's interesting, and makes sense. Well, they have succeeded in driving me away. There's no way I'm going to look into what becoming a Business Seller entails. It's not a business. It's just a way for me to declutter now and then. Sell a few old books and cds. I can't imagine that the small amounts I make each year are enough to trouble the tax man.

I fully get you on that. The new rules from HMRC are if sell more than 30 items in a calendar year or reach sales of £1760 (whichever comes first), then the tax man has to be notified. Originally, that was down to each individual but now HMRC have put that responsibility on to the selling platforms and eBay just doesn't want that headache.
