Simple Delivery is now the default setting but it is possible to opt out of Simple Delivery by selecting "Switch to Advance Options". Why is Ebay pushing this?
Simple, Ebay gets a discount on the postage and creams off some of the cost the buyer pays. The seller gets nothing to cover packaging and other costs like driving to the post office because home collection is not offered with Simple delivery. My advice is OPT OUT OF SIMPLE DELIVERY

I've deleted all of my listings & will be leaving ebay soon, it's a rip-off, a comic costs £2 to post Royal Mail, but £3.74 simple delivery, leave me earning 26p per comic. I use to give customers free postage, this isn't an option.
I have started posting on ebuygumm, choose own postage but there are plenty of other platforms out there

Hello Eileen,
Thank you for contacting eBay Customer Service. My name is Bhoomika, and I will be supporting you today.
Eileen, I can certainly understand your point here, as you wish to get custom postage.
Yes, a change like this would make me feel the same way you are feeling while sharing your understanding and feelings for the postage changes however this change was made to make sure our sellers have better security regarding shipping and their dedicated funds being released on time for our sellers.
I would feel that the lack of options is taking away the choice for the seller, which you and a number of sellers believe is wrong however, please know that this change was made after taking in quite a number of complaints from our private sellers.
Ebay is comprised mostly of private sellers and as per that please know shipping their items using their preferred service from numerous carriers have caused quite a lot of item lost or damaged in transit cases. As per this, eBay had taken this much necessary decision of managing postage itself for our private sellers.
With that being said, I have documented all of your feedback and sentiments and will ensure to highlight this for future improvements. Thank you for taking the time to contact eBay customer service, have a wonderful day.
Kind regards,
Bhoomika S.

I listed an item last week and there was no option apart from Simple Delivery. I have just sold the item (under 5kg) and the buyer was charged £5.21 with Evri, whereas I'd wanted to use InPost where the fee would have been £3.99. Simple Delivery worsens my ebay experience, so am now listing more on FB Marketplace where possible.

She he could have just said eBay are taking over the hassle for sellers and buyers who get lost or damaged items NOT that simple delivery will decrease the occurrence of these
I think that’s what they meant anyway

I have always understood Evri do not offer compensation for certain items such as china and glass. Some of my items have been lost or broken (only around a dozen cases in 18 years of trading) and I always found RM would return cost of item and postage so I could refund the buyer. This 'deal' ebay has done is just a gimmick for them to make money.

Hi
Where do I opt out of simple delivery?

It's no longer possible to opt out of simple delivery unless your items can be listed under the exclusions shown here https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/postage/simple-delivery#eligible

I looked at the exclusions list to try and put a sensible rating on a synthesizer.
The minute you choose anything other than 'Freight' (which doesn't allow a rate to be added) it enforces that hateful Simple Delivery thing.
And sure. "You can put the package size in'. WHERE. I'm already on the advanced listing tool (as was), it's not there - this is so horrible and badly thought out. Who on earth does it benefit apart from dropshippers and shops-who-aren't shops anyway?

It obviously benefits ebay!
