Should Private Sellers Covert to Global Shipping or Will it Kill Sales?

Now private sellers are going to have to wait for payment after delivery, what are people doing about international transactions? In the past I have had items held up in customs in Spain for 5 weeks and on average it is 7-10 days to USA. The obvious solution seems to be Global Shipping where you can get paid after it is delivered to Pitney Bowes in the UK. However, I am concerned that overseas buyers will be charged such inflated prices by GSP that they will not buy at all? Anyone have any experience of using GSP and whether it affected sales? Thank you in advance as I am really unsure where to go with this. Do I just have to suck it up and wait potentially weeks for my money?

Since posting this I am seeing others today experiencing grossly inflated prices to US buyers, possibly a glitch? Is it normally more reasonable then?

Global shipping causes massive problems i have seen terrible feedbacks. It's very expensive buyer has to pay to send to UK warehouse then they send it on. Obviously takes longer too. I always use Royal Mail and buy postage online as we can't use stamps now. Cheaper and quicker, rarely had a problem. If forced in future to use GSP or SD i'm out because i wouldn't trust someone else to pack and label either

Tip for international shipping i always write on the customs label tax paid to Ebay and how much because it's not shown and they would have to open the item to see the invoice. Yes we do have to put the order number in but it's not shown on the label

That is what I worried about, someone else opening it and potentially badly repacking it. You have no control.
