Same qr code scanned twice at post office

A buyer has just sent me a msg and told me that they received their order but received another order from me in error.  I had used Simple Delivery to post both items and they should have gone to different addresses, but they ended up at the same address, which means that two identical labels were generated.  This was confirmed by the buyer.  This is crazy.  Luckily this buyer has been very understanding and has agreed to send the parcel onto the right buyer and I'll refund the postage later.  I'm gonna be super careful in the future when sending stuff out via Simple Delivery.  Might be better to process orders one by one and get a receipt each time instead of putting 5 or 6 orders on the same receipt.

Same qr code scanned twice at post office

Hi paulh5038, thanks for your post.

Sorry to hear about this, but glad to hear your buyer was happy to understand and help you out. However, it is really odd for a label to be generated twice for 2 different transactions. If you could please share the item number of both transactions, I'd be happy to look into to it to see what happened there.

Thank you,

Marco

Same qr code scanned twice at post office

Hi Marco:

I've already worked out what has happened.  Both Simple Delivery items were scanned by the postmistress one after another.  It appears that the first scan carrried over to the second. I have had this happen twice now.  The problem is the particular post office where I very occasionally post.  The 3 times that I've encountered problems have all been at the same post office. (The third issue was that an eBay customer didn't receive his DVD and left me negative feedback.  This order, however, was sent second class and not Simple Delivery.  Nevertheless, it is this post office that is the problem.  Or should I say it is untrained and stressed out staff that are making the errors.)  I will not be using this post office again.  I will always use my regular post office or the one in town.  I have lodged 2 complaints with Royal Mail and left negative feedback for that particular post office.  It's a nightmare when orders go astray, not just for me as a seller, but for those buyers who are inconvenienced with having to post the additional item out at their own expense, although I will of course refund them at a later date.

Same qr code scanned twice at post office

This has happened to me too! Alas, the 1st item was a special

delivery to the GSP and was then going  to go to the US, the orher was a local buyer and I only realised what had happened when that buyer made a ‘not received claim’. By that time, item 1 had not yet been shipped to the US and I tried customer support to sort this out, was told to contact Royal Mail - but Royal Mail said that both items had been delivered so that same GSP address in Lichfield. Called Customer Service once more - they said they can’t help and there’s no way to contact the global shipping program.

The buyer of the original item received item two first and contacted me asking if that was something I had sold that ended up in the US by mistake… I once more tried Customer Service for help… they couldn’t - it even went to their back office, as I thought that this was a unique mishap…

Now I will have to find a way for the buyer of item 1 to send this package back at my own cost, which will exceed the value of item two…

I would’ve thought that the global shipping program checks what is in a package - because the first item was very valuable.

The lesson I have learned from this is to be extra careful with QR codes and to check the receipt before I leave the post office - I would have expected a QR code not to work twice (the packages were sent one day apart)
