Royal mail tracked 48 postage scam

Hi All,

Would like to raise postage scam awareness I have become a victim of. I bought a phone which was sent by Royal Mail 48 tracked and showed as divered with blurry picture of a parcel left on someone's door mat. My

parents were both at home all day plus I have cctv and ring door bell and no record of postman on that day. No card was left either. Seller was not willing to cooperate and ebay quickly closed my case as they have tracking proving delivery. I went to the local Royal Mail delivery office to investigate and they advised that parcel had never even arrived in my local area. It was divered by a different delivery office miles away to the address in that area. They provided GPS coordinates pinpointing the buiding and said to contact Royal Mail customer service for further investigation. When I called customer service they confirmed to me that the delivery address and postcode are complety different in their system. They said that phone was delivered exactly were it should have been. They were not very helpful as they have contract with the seller and not me, and they fullfield their contract. Now, interesting detail is, that Royal Mail customer service is adamant that Ebay can also see in their system that parcel had gone to a different address. They did not explain to me how it was possible to use the tracking to completely different address as a proof, just said they were not responsible for the tracking info and do not get involved in disputes.

So far, I have provided such non-delivery evidence to Ebay as: picture of my door, GPS co-ordinates of delivery place, tracking map showing different Royal Mail depot and area of delivery pinpointing the building, mentioned I have video recording covering delivery date and time with a date and time stamp and can upload as evidence.  But apparently, this is not sufficient. I hope that Royal Mail will write an email to me confirming they delivered to a different address as per their records. I still have not received it.

Therefore, I'm raising awareness of this scam and how easy it can be pulled of by the seller and how dufficult it is to prove to Ebay that I have not received my item.

Thank you for raising awareness. When I requested a Callback and provided similar evidence of eBay's Simple Delivery going astray, they refunded me straight away. (I would have contacted the Seller if it were a Business or someone using Custom Postage). It's true that there was no use opening an Item Not Received case, as eBay find against Buyers automatically because 'tracking' shows delivered. But in my experience, usually Customer Service is more helpful! If they hand not been then I would have taken my evidence to my payment provider to request a Chargeback.
