Has anyone else looked at how many RM 48hr Delivery packages have no delivery update at all?
I'm predominantly an eBuyer, but im sick n tired of the poor tracking thats available when things are sent via Royal Mail. especiallialy when large sums of money are involved..
Often there is just an 'ITEM SCAN' with no location... what value is that to anyone? with still no idea of when its going to be delivered. I rarely see 'Out for delivery' on any RM package
I just checked through my purchase history and 9 out of the 20 item items ive bought in the past few months have no 'delvered' update on them.
Why do sellers still use RM?
Other delivery options always offer detailed updates and accurate delivery times..
when suppliers use RM I honestly avoid them when I can

EBay does not (now) give sellers the option as far as I can see. The Simple Delivery is imposed on UK eBay sellers.
I agree Royal Mail tracking is useless either via eBay links or directly on the RM site. No updates along the parcels journey and of the six items I have sent only one was received in 48 hours - some took 5 days.

The title of this thread - "Royal Mail: Ridiculously Poor Tracking updates" - must be one of the biggest understatements of all time. I have had numerous instances over the past two or three years of being unable to track parcels/packets/letters using (copy & paste) reference numbers from the senders and from Royal Mail itself (i.e. no inputting of numbers by me) when they advise me they have something for me via one of their tracked services.
Recent media coverage of widespread problems with normal letter deliveries being delayed(by several days in some cases) allegedly in favour of tracked services must be only scratching the surface.
Perhaps we need to speed up the process of following Denmark's example & doing away with the 'official' letter mail service & concentrate on parcels & packets
I can't think there can be any way that the 'service' is likely to improve with the way Royal Mail is being managed & operated at present.

Luck you. I spent £5.68 to get something delivered 48 hour tracked. It's been 4 days and the item is still in Coventry while I live in the Scottish Highlands. Useless.
Mind you, with Evri, even when an item has reached Inverness (20 miles away) I have had to wait up to two weeks before I see it. Sick to death of the UK's awful delivery services.
