Posting electric guitars

I'm trying to sell a couple of electric guitars (separately). I'm really confused about shipping something this big. When I've punched everything into the listing, under shipping options I'm told it's an oversized item, which is anything above 20 kg and 61 x 46 x 46 cm. That's very unspecific, as surely I could be selling a grand piano and it would still come under 'oversized'. I'm then given Yodel Store to Door Tracked (which is recommended) for £5.88, Parcel Force 48 Tracked for £13.63 or Evri for an unspecified amount of money.

Clearly, a box containing an electric guitar is not going to cost £5.88 to ship. So why does it say that? Someone from ebay told me that shipping costs are calculated AFTER the item has sold. Then why is it displayed to the buyer as £5.88? If anyone has ever shipped an electric guitar or something that big before, I'd really appreciate the help.

FYI I'm based in the UK and will only be shipping nationwide.

Thanks

Once you select oversize you can buy your own postage wherever you like.  Select custom postage or similar then you can buy ppstage outside of ebay.
