Does anyone know why eBay are so obsessed with trying to FORCE sellers to use EVRI? Have they acquired this courier or have they accepted a monster 'brown envelope'? What is the rational behind forcing this courier on people? I want my items DELIVERED!

I have to laugh because other Sellers prefer EVRI over Royal Mail. So I think eBay's plan to add other couriers is the best solution. We can all choose our personal preference! DPD recently merged with EVRI so hopefully they will improve as a result.

You are not FORCED to use Evri. I certainly haven't since the advent of Simple Delivery, nor for a good while prior to that.
e-Bay reserve the right to change your choice but that's yet to happen with any of my sales. I suspect it's for people who choose Evri but the item sells to a Buyer in what they class as a "Remote Location" and charge a huge extra fee. I can certainly see e-Bay switching such items to Royal Mail who are cheaper. They'd also do it with parcels that are likely to be too heavy for Evri or too big for Royal Mail.
As for wanting your items delivered, as e-Bay now refunds for parcels that are lost or damaged in transit it doesn't matter to the Seller if they are.

Thanks SO much for that link - have just used it to opt out of Evri 🤣 would never have figured out how to do that. 🙏

DHL not DPD.

Do note that in the terms and conditions, ebay CAN still override and provide Evri if the product in question can't go via Royal Mail.

In my experience DPD are the worst, worse than Evri if that's even possible. I've got a large smart parcel box sat next to my front door and the amount of times I've watched the driver (on the ring camera) look at it then promptly drop the parcel on the ground right next to it in the pouring rain - there's even a printed laminate stuck to it with a photo pointing to my shed (with a massive arrow) if the parcel is too big for the box 🙄
