Ebay simple delivery system problems - one solution

I can see that virtually everyone has problems with ebay's latest 'improvement' - the dreaded simple delivery system. I myself as a non business person who sells mostly golf clubs can no longer trust this system as it defaults to DHL (Downright Hopeless Logistics) who are quite simply the WORST courier company I have ever had the misfortune to use. On one occasion I waited in every day for an entire week after their text each day apologising for delays due to 'unforeseen vehicle problems' and advising that they would pick up next day. And yes DHL pickup is the ONLY option, you cannot drop off at depot.

My solution ? Select the lowest tracked postal option instead (£2.70 buyer pays) and then make it clear in your advert that you will be posting by another courier & will provide tracking. When sold, print off the postage label and attach to an envelope with a short note to the buyer advising them of the correct tracking then post it. Ebay now thinks your package is delivered and the more reliable courier can deliver independently of ebay. This will mean of course you will be paying for the alternative courier but in the short term until ebay relents on this system, it works.

This is one of the more elegant workarounds that I've seen. It means building postage price in, and an unexpected small refund to the Buyer, but both of these are easy to deal with.
