EVRI driver steals my item and places label on different package.

I had 4 items delivered from The States yesterday. 3 were OK but one, that should have contained a vintage bracelet that set me back about £150, contained a pair of womens leggings.  I thought at first that the seller may have got things mixed up but that's not the case. When I look closer at the package, I can see two labels with my address on and a further label underneath with the details for the leggings and UK post. So, someone, ie the driver, had put my bracelet in his pocket and stuck the labels on another one that he gave to me.

I can't seem to get any help from eBay or Evri, all they say is that the order has been delivered. I'm going to confront him today but if he won't do the right thing, can anyone please advise me on what I can do to redress this situation?

While on the subject, why do these drivers refuse to use the doorbell and tap like a mouse on the door instead? And why do Evri tell you an item is out for delivery then deliver 12 hours later? Generally why are they so bad and why are we forced to use them?

TIA, Drew.

Did your American Seller use the Global Shipping Program? Or Custom International Postage?

All I can see in the order details is "sent by eBay International shipping"

That sounds like eBay's Global Shipping Program. Open an Item Not as Described Case. With their GPS, eBay usually refund your money, let your Seller keep their money, and might not even ask you to return the stockings.

Do you know that all your GPS Orders go to an eBay hub where they are opened, checked and completely repackaged? Mistakes could have happened at many points along the journey from the Seller to you. Or perhaps someone could have stolen it. Best to have proof before accusing anyone.

Thanks, I did wonder if the mix up happened at the hub but the original parcel that my labels have been stuck on is a UK post so will that have been to the same hub? I've had several parcels that have been opened by eBay and they leave "ebay" tape on it or use "ebay" jiffys. Also, I've had over 80 deliveries from the US with no problem, all delivered by the same guy. I get a new guy, and have lost two parcels within a week. He's also delivering in the middle of the night which I've never had before.

One thing I wanted to do was to warn Evri/hermes what was happening so that no more items go missing but it's impossible to talk to anyone to do so. I've stopped buying now but still have items on their way and I'm worried they're going to go the same way.

The Ebay International Shipping program is the newer version of the Global Shipping Program.  It operates much the same as the Global Shipping Program but with the added advantage that all returns, whatever the reason, are handled by eBay without the seller needing to be involved.   So all you need to do to resolve this situation is to open an 'Item not as described' return request and return the item to the hub if required.  Once received and inspected at the hub you should be automatically refunded by eBay at no cost to the seller.

Thankyou, that's very helpful. One thing I'm wondering is if there's a type of shipping service provided by US sellers that does not use Evri / Hermes etc? Not all my items have arrived that way, some have been Royal Mail. I stopped buying UK items delivered by Evri when I had problems before with items been left in unsafe places, I live in the centre of town and my front door opens up straight onto the street. Anything left on my step soon gets scooped up.

I have to say though, to be fair to Evri, I did have that period of a couple of months where everything was arriving safely from the USA and I had built up a bit of trust with them, then it all fell apart again.

I believe that USPS partners with Royal Mail for its UK deliveries. You might want to check the USPS web site to confirm that this is correct and which services it applies to.

The seller just posts to a shipping hub, when using ebay  international, the the hub forward to you using whatever postage they choose it is the hub using evri  on the final leg of its journey not the seller themselves.

As for stolen it could be any where in the journey, it is more likely you got someone else's order and they got your. Mistakes happen.

Are you sure about this? Authentication they do but GSP they just slap a new label on and its shipped in the same box the seller sent it in, I've never once known they open, check and repackage.

I don't think all items sent through the Global Shipping Program are necessarily opened as sellers remain responsible for the item unless lost or damaged after arriving at the hub. However, with the Ebay International Shipping program things are a bit different as the seller is only responsible for the item as far as the international hub.  Thereafter, they are absolved of all responsibility, with eBay assuming full control, so most items will need to be inspected and approved before onward transit.

Didn't know that so thanks for the education, you'd think eBay would do something like this for the high fraud cases like phones/tablets. Would solve a lot of issues.
