Would this not open you up to INR as if you cant edit the tracking then it will just use that tracking number in the case and show its not been sent? Yes you'll have tracking showing a parcel has been sent but this could just be anything.

GOOD POINT, BUT AS I HAVE NOT USED THE LABEL, SURELY ROYAL MAIL WILL CONFIRM THAT.

I HAVE SENT MY TRACKING NUMBER TO EBAY WHEN REQUESTING A REFUND.

I HAVE TO HOPE IT WORKS.

I HAVE A PILE OF POSTAGE STAMPS, THAT WILL NOT GET USED IF I CANNOT APPLY THEM TO MY EBAY ORDERS. SO I WILL HAVE TO FIND ANOTHER PLATFORM TO SELL MY PRIVATE ITEMS.

IT IS SHORTSIGHTED OF EBAY

Yeah the tracking will just say waiting to be dropped off or whatever it says when its unused but we all know INR is mostly done via AI so the tracking that eBay upload and I guess is greyed out will be the one that AI checks and that will just show as not delivered.

This is all speculation but I guess you'd need to contact eBay to have them update the tracking but it all just depends on what type of agent you get. I'm just trying to think a bit out of the box to stop you opening yourself up to be scammed as I guess eBay wont have much sympathy is you have used a loophole to bypass simple delivery if its a seller said buyer said scenario.

It could be argued as short-sighted by eBay but they could also be doing it to protect their users when scams or making sure its free to sell so revenue has to come from somewhere. Not that I agree though as theres a much simpler way and thats having a fee across the board for all sellers but thats another thread.

So they do have a link where you can request a refund if label not used, which I accessed before using my own label, and it up to them if they agree, so it is a risk, which I have taken. I have also sent them an email with the actual tracking number today, and requested they update it, as it not possible for me to do. Will have to wait for their response

It is possible to update your tracking manually,  if you have not used Simple Delivery.

You may need a laptop / PC and try Chrome, and do the following.

  • Go to "Orders Paid & Dispatched"
  • Click on "View order details"
  • Within the "Postage" section there's a small dropdown arrow next to "Track Package" - click on that.
  • Click on the "Add tracking" option
  • A box will come up with the current tracking number . Delete that and replace it with your tracking.

Thank you for your tip, although I did not actually use the label, I had to open (but not print) the print option to get the address.

Anyway, I have now been able to put in my tracking number, but it also shows the Simple tracking number I cannot delete that, and I cannot say that I have posted it merely shows as awaiting to be posted. There used to be a drop down box on the order so you could mark it as dispatached, but its not there anymore.
Note: Ebay told me they could not amend the tracking but told me how to do it, but the instructions were wrong.

There is no drop down to mark an item as dispatched anymore,  when you buy a label through Simple delivery it automatically marks it as dispatched and adds tracking.

Not sure why you have 2 tracking numbers now showing? 🤔  Are you doing this on the app or mobile browser?  Switch if you can,  as those devices are limited in offering all options,  to a laptop / PC and use Chrome that seems to work well with eBay.

Hi it does not work, they now have an option up to 30kg and it is still simple, they have just told me that it £12.97 with DHL, and I cannot change that, if I use the 30kg option. The only thing to do is if item is under £10 you can choose large letter and then you can use the custom postage, and you can change the postage cost to whatever, but that will show on your listing, even if it actually a small parcel. So not ideal, and only under £10

Very annoying no matter where we go it’s a brick wall eBay must have been
at this for months making sure every angle was covered
Why oh why does eBay want to have control of postage all the time .they can
not understand there chosen couriers eg evri are the worst of the worst.
But they make the most profit.
There is an option Royal Mail evri but that is only for things not carrying
much weight. This is dictatorship big time and to be honest after selling
for 18 yrs as a small seller I am all most done. EBay was once a great
place to be and sell but now I am not listing much most have left and will
not return I hope there results are low because the only way to stop this
is for them to start loosing monies
But quote if you leave some one will fill your space . End of

Make sure you meet all the Ts & Cs before you send the form in.

To process your refund, we'll verify the following:

  • The label was paid for by you (you offered free shipping to the buyer).
  • The refund request is created within 14 days from the item's sale.
  • The label wasn't used within 14 days of the item's sale.
  • The package was delivered using a different tracking number.

If your request meets all these conditions, you'll receive a refund for the shipping cost. Please note, it may take up to 14 days for the refund to be processed.

ke sure you have read and met all the Ts & Cs

Ok it worked  on order where, I had clicked on label, but not used it printed it or downloaded it, as an ebay tracking number was generated.  This time for new order I go the address by looking at invoice, and have not clicked on label at all, so no ebay tracking number has been created.  This means i cannot update tracking to my own.  So I have to click on the Simple label as far as I can see, so i can then update with my details.  vvvvv. annoying.

You can manually add your tracking for the postage label you used this way, and preferably use a laptop / PC to do this:

  • Go to "Orders Paid & Dispatched"
  • Click on "View order details"
  • Within the "Postage" section there's a small dropdown arrow next to "Track Package" - click on that.
  • Click on the "Add tracking" option
  • A box will come up with the current tracking number . Delete that and replace it with your tracking.

Simple Delivery is now optional.
Fantastic news and huge win for sellers. I expect the sales numbers must have dropped significantly for management to change their decision.
