Just to repeat the previous link showing for you below, when you are on that thread, at the top click on ' Go to Solution', and follow ' Rick's guidance to the workaround for oversized items!

They have now removed the opt out and are gradually forcing you to use the SD. Like most sellers, I usually put on a little extra for packing materials, driving to the Evri store etc. SD Forces you to quote just the basic cost, so your actually out of pocket on postage on everything you sell. The only solution is to put up the cost of the item a little, but the knock on effect is your item becomes a little less attractive in search if others are selling the same type of thing. eBay used to be so simple, I may now just give up if the individual fun and control are taken away.

Still working - I have just checked at 09.12 hrs making a new listing. Follow my workaround exactly.

EBay are gradually rolling it out to everyone. My wife has an EBay account and the opt out still works for now. It seems the lower item sellers are being pulled in first and then expanding out to all. If you’re selling a fair few items, you may be ok for a week or two. My guess is, they are testing the water without upsetting the larger Private sellers first. The more people object, the better chance they will add some flexibility ?

They've now removed this option.

People who say that my workaround isn't working are usually not following it exactly - they try to do what they think is right but isn't!

They are wriggling trying to get their simpleton delivery to work correctly! They must be frantically tweaking their systems to block off all avenues of escape from their dictated agenda.
I think that because you are trying to use an ebay label you are confusing simple delivery and the workaround. The workaround envisages you obtaining your own postage not through the ebay label systems. ( which was the point of the workaround ) You should be choosing the carrier at listing not at sale.

From what I have seen as a buyer - the buyer doesn't know what the carrier options are, the choice is standard or express, no names are mentioned. I have carried out a small test sample of 1/2 a dozen purchases under simpleton delivery - if I choose standard I get an evri delivery and if I choose express I get royal mail 24 or 48. This is just my observations, I presume that most buyers go for the cheapest option which is standard hence evri is the carrier selected.
Why ebay cannot be open about which carrier is selected to the buyer is beyond me. I suppose it is because very few people would use them if they had a choice. I hate evri with a passion also and would never send anything out via them.

As you state, buyers are only given a choice of 'Standard Delivery' or 'Express Delivery' with no mention, on the actual listing or at checkout, of the actual carrier being used or option to choose.
It is actually possible for a buyer to find out which carrier/s will actually be used by clicking on 'Contact Seller' and then 'Postage' (note no need to actually contact the seller). Why that information is hidden away and can't be included in the actual listing I don't know, but probably for the reasons you have suggested.
I definitely think buyers should have the option to opt out of a particular carrier if they wish like sellers can. Maybe that option will be added at some point, possibly when more carriers are added.
