I have been trying to pay for an item won in an auction using my ebay balance which is far in excess of the amount needed. I believe now that this is down to a technical fault (not my end), I have cleared my junk, tried another browser and even allowed my daughter who lives miles away to access my account to try.
The discount is added to my invoice and all looks perfectly OK, but when I press confirm it asks me to confirm my identity, as I would expect, then a new page comes up with a red bar across it and the message is !We ran into a problem. Please try again.
This has continued for the last 4 days and efforts to get help from online chat and an international phone call have been useless, I have heard nothing back, only received threats that it will go against my account if I don't pay! Have kept the seller informed and they are being very patient. Any suggestions please?

Hi whistlewhs, thanks for your post.
Could you please upload a screenshot of the error with the red banker and confirm the item number of the item you won, so I can take a look for you to see what's happening?
Thank you,
Marco

Thank you for your reply, sorry I did not reply before. I did not get an email alert that I had an answer and not having posted on community before was not sure how to return to my post, there were so many following on.
I received the email today asking if my problem was solved which it was not. Following my post here I had another conversation on an international phone call, this appeared to be more helpful than the 1st one, and the lady said she would have to speak to someone higher and eventually came back with the answer that although the item was in Belfast, UK it was on file that the seller would only post to Germany so I would never be able to complete payment and she would have to alter it and re-list.
I explained this to her and as I told her I would not bid again on an auction, she re-listed it as Buy-it-now. She was not prepared to tell me if the postage had been incorrect but I assume that it was or she would have said so. However when I tried to buy it on Sunday evening I still got the same message using the Balance code which was still offered as available in my ebay summary. I gave up trying to use the code and the order went straight through so there must have been a problem with the code whether the address was correct or not.
The item number is 236011693592 on the auction, I will have to check back to see if the number changed when it was listed as B-I-N. Pic of the problem added below.
I would also like to ask why I have had VAT added to my B-I-N payment as well, the seller lives in Belfast, UK and I am in Cheshire, UK. By chance I sold an item to the same person a couple of months ago and she did not have to pay VAT on that item, the postal area still in UK, so I don't understand it.
Thank you for offering to help.
