As an occasional seller only, since it isn't possible to organise collection of sold items when buying e bay labels I usually buy labels direct from Royal Mail ( I live 10 miles from the nearest PO and only visit maybe once every few weeks so collection is necessary.)
I normally choose RM48 and manually enter the tracking number in the sold section of my account.
Reading the new payment rules, seems when you get paid will depend on the tracking showing as delivered.
While I dont understand the reasoning behind this new way of doing things, additionally everything I have read about it seems to indicate the need to use an e bay label to ensure tracking works and that payment is made accordingly, placing me in a tricky situation.
I might have got this wrong, but as I am unable to post this way for the reason mentioned, am a little concerned that there may be significant delays in being paid if using a label purchased direct from RM.
If that is the case I will probably not sell here again.
I can think of no other company that doesn't require immediate payment, made to the seller and where it takes no longer than any bank would to process. The buyer is still having to pay up at point of sale and just wants their stuff to turn up, the seller simply require payment as fast as possible....so what on earth is all this about ?

Yep, this Simple Delivery allegedly coming in as mandatory anytime before the end of March, is causing deep concern and grief amongst many Private sellers. Just take a peek at the many long, long threads on the subject on these boards, makes for lively discussions and reading ! 😊
Bottom line is when Simple Delivery is here for all to use, currently it's an opt out, but seemingly not for long, this will involve buying tracked postage from eBay and the buyer selects the service they desire, being presently, Evri or Royal Mail.
Tracking must show delivery if it does, payout from the sale is released after 2 days, if not, then eBay hold that payout for 14 days.
Why is eBay doing this? Well as the saying goes, ' Theirs not to reason why, theirs but to do or ' ....... I suppose leave!
No exact announcement or any more details for this is available, guess we'll all have to start clicking on the Announcement tab for the latest.
Or, I'm sure it will be ' announced' here , too !

Hi and thanks..
I'll check out the other threads when I have time.
Seems then for me, I will either have to expect a buyer to wait maybe up to two weeks before I am able to get to post office to send an item., or simply not sell here atall.
I'd be quite happy to use e bay labels if I was able to get to a drop off point easily but seems to me e bay is moving toward only allowing business accounts to operate and that's a crying shame.
Presumably all this silliness comes under the heading of progress !

I think you may be mis understanding the ' 14 day rule'.
It's not the buyer waiting for you to post within 14 days, you should post as now, when eBay inform you the buyer has paid.
Then, when that tracking has shown delivery , your payout will be released to you, after 2 days.
After you have posted an item , if there's no tracking to show delivery, eBay will hold the money from that sale for 14 days .
Yep as you say .... ' progress' ! 🤔

No I think I understand it ok, just think it's bonkers and hugely unfair....RM often dont update anything including delivery even when you have bought a service that includes tracking, therefore as I always choose them so as to enable collection, it would likely end up with me having to wait the 14 days and I will have had to pay the postage cost out of my own pocket too.
I can see no other purpose of this than to clear out 'little' private sellers entirely.
Ah well, it's going to have to be local facebook groups and marketplace from now on for me. Shame on Ebay.

I'm with you on this, as I know many others are too.
I'm going to have to see how Simple Delivery pans out if imposed before March, as I'm loathe to not being able to buy over the counter postage at my little Post Office. My offerings are meagre, but I'm sure anything helps them stay open, so many little village PO round me have sadly closed.

I tend to agree but for me living remotely where I am it just isn't viable to do a 20 mile round trip to post something I make a few quid from selling and then to not be paid immediately.
I can see the old 'garage sale' concept coming back into fashion, though I doubt anyone would bother driving all the way out into the wilds of Scotland to buy an ancient DVD from me 😊

Just been looking at a petition someone has set up.

EBay making a mint from the interest on everyone’s money they are holding. It used to be once we have posted the item that’s are job done we don’t or can’t control the delivery once it’s gone this is stupid because once the buyer has got the item eBay says 2 days it will be in eBay account but if item gets lost or stolen sellers have a headache trying to sort it out
13-02-2025 10:35 AM
Exactly...I sold a little thing last week, sent in the normal way and got paid next day, so they haven't implemented this stupidity yet !. However I sent something via RM 48 outside of ebay recently and RM took nearly a week to update their tracking to show 'delivered', so yes, if we have to rely on RM bothering to keep up to date with deliveries we are scre*ed. I wouldn't care if both RM and Evri were efficient professional operators but clearly their standards have slipped significantly and so to involve them in when payments to sellers are signed off shows a distinct lack of awareness and certainly a lack of concern for loyal members. I sincerely hope they might reconsider this rule and leave things as they are.

I can send a item normal 1st class post, it's there in 2/3 days, I email the buyer asking have you got the item...he say yes..he leaves me feedback....I leave him feedback...AND EBAY SAY YOU CANT HAVE YOUR MONEY FOR 14DAYS....14DAYS....SO FOR 14DAYS THEY THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF PEOPLES MONEY....NOW THATS HOW YOU MAKE MONEY.
13-02-2025 11:01 AM
14Days way to long
13-02-2025 11:08 AM
I agree, of course it's too long..it's taking the p far as I'm concerned.
Just spoke to an 'agent' lol, apparently as long as you send tracked, even if RM cant be bothered to update accordingly as delivered, after 48 hours seems you can get in touch with 'those who must be obeyed' and request payment which will be forthcoming.
Given the faff to actually speak to someone, seems a bit of a liberty to me. They claim to be in touch with Royal mail to request better updating in tracking...I wish them good luck with that.
13-02-2025 11:08 AM
Those are the new rules, and many are unhappy with them you are not alone.
The receiving of feedback will only work for items under the value of £10, as eBay have agreed adding expensive tracking to a low value item makes the item just too expensive, this rule is coming in at the end of February.
For all other items, feedback won't work for early release of payouts, it's a 14 day wait if you don't have tracking to show delivery.
Many are not welcoming this change and many , many long discussions on this subject on this forum, some quite lively !

You can request postman to collect your items from your home at any time it costs a little more just choose that option when buying post-office lable from eBay, I've used it many times when unable to get out
16-02-2025 4:12 PM
Hi Yes thanks, I have now updated things this end and suddenly the option did appear, where it was absent before. All good now.
16-02-2025 4:50 PM
I can't print from Ebay so book collection direct from RM and they bring the label. Costs exactly the same as printing & dropping off. No extra charge.
16-02-2025 5:34 PM
Yes, me too...it used to be a little bit cheaper to print one on Ebay although you couldn't book a collection. At least you now can, so much much improved....although the new payment rules are still ridiculous. 😋

Sorry if I’m posting incorrectly here. I’m trying to chat with the eBay community team but the area to start a conversation is greyed out.
Anyway re the new rules, I feel one is unfair
**Re untracked single-quantity, single-item orders priced £10 or less, funds will be available after positive feedback is received from the buyer**
To be fairer to everyone, I think the same situation should also apply to **tracked deliveries with no delivery confirmation**, single-quantity, single-item orders priced £10 or less funds will be available after positive feedback is received from the buyer.
I can’t see the difference between untracked and tracked with no delivery confirmation re the above situation. I feel that’s unfair.
If the buyer gives feedback delivery is confirmed.
