Hi everyone
Collecting full sets of stickers for World/Euro cups. Not bothering with trying for 70, 74 and 78 as they seem too expensive but I might move onto them once I've got all the others, what would be your valuation of the following sets:
80 £550?
82 £650?
84 £250?
86 £300?
88 £200?
90 £350?
92 £120?
94 £230?
96 £70?
98 £110?
00 £40?
02 £65?
04 £35?
06 £25?
08 £25?
10 £10?
Might be interesting to see what everyone thinks so if they are thinking about buying they don't get ripped off. Mine are just guesses really based on previous sets but I don't see everything that sells.
Cheers.

Already some interesting differences of opinions especially 94 where one gives £160 and the other gives £300. Incidentally if anyone has a set of 94 and 90 at the last listed prices I will gladly have them off you!
As for future prices who knows where it will go! I would have thought though that the sets pre Ebay will always be worth far in excess of anything since, disproportionally so, but time will tell.
Is it worth getting a load of sets for 2010 at the prices they are now and storing them away for 10 years or so? Surely the price cannot come down? I would have thought that in terms of an investment it's pretty safe. Example being if you were to get 50 sets of 2010 at £10 totalling £500 surely they will be worth more than buying a set of 1980 for the same price in 10 years? All about opinions I guess and how long you want to make the investment for...

Graham i think Darren would be guessing the GREEN UK edition for the USA 94 set whereas the International 444 set is more rarer therefore would go for a much higher price. Ive invested in loads of sets and will continue to do so. Im hoping Euro 2000 sets/albums and Korea/Japan 2002 sets/albums will yield a good return when i finally sell up

Yeah but will you actually sell up? I'd struggle to at least not keep one set of each I think. I suppose it depends how much they are worth. How many sets of the 2000 and 2002 have you got?
How about how much do you think the 2012 set will be worth in a year? Not the stupid prices they're currently selling for thats for certain.

Graham at the moment i have a plan to start selling just before the 2022 Qatar World Cup, whether that'll happen i have my doubts lol. Just now i have 8 Euro 2000 sets and 5 complete albums and 2 2002 sets and 5 complete albums and hopefull i can double my money on these when the time comes to sell. TBH i havent really collected much of the 2012 set (have been stocking up in Asda with the free albums just in case lol) the stickers are just too expensive atm.

I think the prices suggested by Alec and Daz are pretty accurate. The cost of the earlier sets has shot up quite significantly in the last 4 years or so and is indicative of the number of people now collecting these sets. This is also borne out by the number of people bidding on Panini stickers at auction houses. It used to be one man and his dog and is now every man and his dog.
The old theory of supply and demand means that I will always look for older sets at decent prices as they become more rare; anything for Euro 2000 or before.
I think Ebay has been a contributing factor in saturating the market for the more recent sets as we all can see how much Panini stickers sell for and there are now so many more people chasing the same dollar. Consequently i don't think the new sets will ever be rare enough to fetch decent prices.

Ian

Hello fellow collectors,
Have been following this thread with interest as I have a full collection of complete albums from 78 -10 in mostly mint condition and all bought off ebay.I bought most of the older albums during the period from 2004 - 2008 for between £11 -35 and haven't really been collecting since then.
I am now staggered at the prices being quoted here. Forget, stocks and shares and your ISA's looks like Panini Albums are a better investment!
No doubt the bubble will burst at some point but when.......who knows.
Ps - found a receipt the other day for my fully complete mint condition Italia 90 album, although it was the Italian edition I paid £12.50p for it.No doubt it would go for less than the GB/International, but any ideas on a 'going' price for this.
Happy collecting people

I have no doubt that you have valuable completed albums worth much more than what you paid! We are, however, talking about full sets of loose stickers which are worth considerably more. As I don't collect full albums I can't help with the value of your Italia 90 album although if you search for simlar and check the completed listings box I'm sure you'll be able to find out.

Mint condition Italia 90 album would sell from anything between £60 - £90 imo. Definetely condition of the album really does deterkine the value of these albums. I recently bought a Munchen 74 Mint album for about £400 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120903053690?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
The same album however in worse condition and wriring/marks etc would sell for considerably less. This particular album is a long-term project for me and i will keep it for as many years as possible to get a good return on it. I still maintain that Euro 2000 albums will be the best in terms of value gain over a period of years.

For an album that is only 12 years old the Euro 2000 album appears to sells for a really good price. The albums appear to be quite scarce which again makes them appealing as an investor/buyer. Empty 2000 albums appear to be as rare as completed albums. (Empty Mint selling for £60 - £70). I suppose only time will tell Steve but if i were to back on an album to get the most return in the future then this would be it.

interesting thread, i really dont think the bubble can burst on this sort of product - i dont think there is a bubble in the first place its just supply and demand. On my estimates every world cup that passes doubles the price of a unopened box of stickers (recent world cups - not so much euros) in terms of loose sets I tend to buy boxes at cheap prices in bulk and complete sets for future investment - much like you Alec - even £25 a set would double my money - though am not sure I want to sell! indeed forget your Isa's!!
I tend to ignore older more expenses sets and stick to Bulk! hence I am your man for lots of recent albums for swaps etc.
23-05-2012 7:24 PM
Yep bulk is best. I am only 15 stickers away from the full Mexico 86 set. I have over 800 spares that I am going to start listing.
Hopefully the full set shoulld be worth over £300 as they are in v.good excellent condition. Spain 82 next only 120 to go!!

Would love to get a hold of an Espana 82 set 🙂 Bit pricey but a great set to have. Someone is selling one for £550 at the moment -

Anyone think this is a good price?

I thought it was a good price but it didn't sell! I would have bought it if I'd had the cash. Anyway there is a cheaper one going http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PANINI-WORLD-CUP-ESPANA-82-FIFA-427-STICKERS-COMPLETE-SET-/251069186957?pt... but it might not be in as good nick. Anyone interested?

Alec
Be careful with this! I checked his other items out and he has another espana 82 set that has fake backs.
Just thought I should mention as its alot of money.
