Well guys Germany win their 4th World Cup title with a close 1-0 win over Argentina. Mario Gotze's sweet volley ends Messi's hopes of lifting the title in enemy grounds.

It has indeed been a great and highly enjoyable tournament. Admittedly, the knock-out phase and especially the final was a bit a anti-climax compared with the exciting group phase, but it is understandable considering what was at stake. I am sure most will agree, however, that in the end, Gemany were worthy winners.
A very big thank you to Alec for organising the competition, which added something more to look forward to in each game. It was no mean task and his efforts should be greatly appreciated.
The World Cup is barely over and I already miss it! I can't wait for the next big international tournament.
Take care everyone.

Hi,
A belated thanks for organising the world cup comp pal, gutted I was in the lead up until the knockout stage then forgot all about the competition so didn't enter any predictions, schoolboy error!
Thanks again
