stolen property

My bike was stolen last week and has now appeared for sale on ebay. The only way to retrieve it seems to be to buy/make an offer (or get them to agree to a viewing and I can get police to come with me)

Has anyone had experience of this?

Ebay won't do anything unless you have a police report.

Surely if you know it is your bike, Police should take action.

The seller cannot give you their address until/unless you pay for the bike.

So, if your plan doesn't work and you can't get the police to accompany you to the address, you will have paid for your own bike.

I reported, have crime number, they have taken a statement so they know i've found it, they also know I found CCTV from a local business, also now got its geographical location...I mean I might as well go and arrest them myself!

All those stages different numbers/departments so its hard to speak to anyone, thought maybe buying it and getting refund might be simpler and avoid the inevitable confrontation tomorrow (arranged to see it)
