selling a car

Hi I am selling my car on e bay. I listed it and within minutes someone had bought it. They made no contact despite repeated messages and were a member with no feedback at all so eventually I cancelled the sale and paid to re list the car. The same thing has happened again, the car has been bought immediately by someone without any feedback rating. I understand that they are no under obligation to me to reply to messages for four days but it is clear to me that this person will not go through with the purchase. I feel stuck because I am just spending money on listing fees again and again and the car is not listed as available for more than a short time before someone 'buys' it, then doesn't communicate. I was hoping for a quick sale but if I have to wait 4 days each time this happens that is impossible, plus I am just paying out for listing fees without having the car in the marketplace for any amount of time for genuine buyers to see. Please can anyone help. Thank you.

Cars are best listed using the classified advert format.

Re: selling a car

What reason are you using to cancel sales, as unless you wait the full 4 days to use the reason "buyer did not pay" you will still pay a selling fee as well as a listing fee.

You cannot stop new members from bidding, but can block members with two or more unpaid strikes, and you can block individual members. Any non payer should be placed on your bidders list.

Re: selling a car

The cheapest and best format to sell a vehicle on is an eBay Classified Ad. This also cuts out the time wasters and non-payers.

A Classified Ad costs £19.99 and there are no final value fees if you sell your item.

Your listing runs for 30 days, during which you can arrange for potential buyers to view your item, you can then end it once paid. You can accept offers too (you don't accept the offer until the buyer has been to view first).

If you decide instead to list in auction format or fixed price Buy It Now it will cost £14.99 for your listing, and that fee is payable even if your item doesn't sell or you end up with a non-payer, and if you sell your item, there are final value fees of 1% of the final transaction (min. £25, max. £45)

As suggested classified ad. is best, ends when  paid.

This may be a regular occurance but not heard of this happening before. It would appear to be someone  targeting you. I have never sold a car on ebay, so do no know, but do you get the ability to send payment details which would show you the address of the purchaser.

Re: selling a car

Thank you - so with the classified route I presume that the transaction takes place out of E bay? So it introduces you to the buyer, you exchange details and then you are on your own - it that correct?

I can see the benefits of this ,

currently I get the feeling that some people may just be hitting 'buy' in order to remove items from the market place that for whatever reason they don't want there.

Re: selling a car

A problem would be caused by OP selling the car twice within 24 hours = Oct 30th & 31st.
