seller does not appear to items i have ordered but marked despatched

i have 3 items of jewellery ordered  marked as despatched, assumed in this country delivery free, however i have had a customs bill £440 they say it is paid carrier say it is not, how do i stand.

You give no details of purchase, such as cost!

Items may be in the UK but if seller is registered outside the UK then Import duty if items over £135 would be payable and collected by whoever is delivering.

As you would be the importer you pay the duty, so you should know whether paid or not.

Looks like import fees.

If you fail to pay them, you invalidate ebay MBG, so will lose item and money.
