return request from buyer

I sold a live coral by auction and the buyer lived in Northern Ireland. I told him I wasn't entirely comfortable with sending a live animal (needing to be kept warm) that far and had stated in item description that postage was at buyers risk! Accepting, reluctantly, the sale I bought heat packs and paid for, out of my own pocket, a a much higher standard of postage which was approximately £10 more than the buyer had paid. The coral died in transit and the buyer has requested a return, I'm really quite angry about this and no way do i accept refunding him after my initial concerns. The item sold for £135 so it's not a small amount to lose out on! TIA

"stated in item description that postage was at buyers risk! "

Unfortunately nothing a seller says can override eBay buyer protection/money back guarantee.

So I'm meant to be £150 down with no choice at all? That's not happening

Re: return request from buyer

It's all seller risk, not the buyer's - they can easily get a refund if their item arrives and isn't as described.

It's a shame that you sent that somewhere that couldn't guarantee next day 24hr delivery.

Have you looked at Ebay's live animal policy?

Re: return request from buyer

it arrived in exactly 24 hours however he didn't open the parcel for another 12 hours after that, therefore adding extra stress to the animal
