no rights as a seller

i have opened this topic again, As a seller you have no rights what so ever, i  sold a camera it was it nice condition, fully working, i took loads of photos of the camera to include every angle, when the buyer received it a few days later he/she started a return stating they opened the film door and it fell off and on top of the camera there was a large gap, i asked if the box was damaged on arrival they stated no, so i asked how the camera got a big gap on top of the camera they stated it arrived like it, they added a photo and the photo they added looked like the camera had been dropped,  i added to the return my photos from the listing and the photos from the buyer and told ebay the damage was from dropping the camera  but ebay was not interested, so they get the return and get a full refund and i pay for the return... so  i guess if you buy from ebay on impulse or it arrives and you change your mind just smash it then return it job done, well done ebay

well done ebay

Just for the record, we're not eBay - just other users like yourself.

From what other sellers have told us, eBay seems to pretty well admit that what you say is true. Typical responses that other sellers tell us they have received from eBay are "Although we understand that you received your item back in a different condition than it was in when you sent it, we unfortunately couldn't determine that this was caused by the buyer" and "As we did not see the item, either as received by the buyer or as returned to the seller, we are not in a position to determine who has the valid case, or take sides".

In every case, eBay's idea of not being able to determine who had the valid case was to find in favour of the buyer, and enforce a refund. The user agreement requires us to accept eBay's decisions, and as their money back guarantee is unregulated there is no right to any independent appeal. The reality for sellers is that eBay has become a very risky place to sell things.
