new delivery scam

So I think this is known by ebay but it's impossible to get through to them.

I bought something from ebay and today an empty, never sealed, Amazon envelope turned up - I hadn't ordered from Amazon, then the ebay item was marked as delivered and on tracking Showed the empty amazon envelope at my address.  The seller is saying delivered and thats it!!  Tried to raise this with ebay but don't know how.  ebay has already removed the negative feedback I left on the seller..

how on earth do I get this sorted!

I assumed you opened item not received case, you will lose as you did you receive an item.

Luckily you can now open item not as described case, seller provides returns label, you post back (empty envelope) for full refund.

Escalate on day 4 if no label or refund.

Ignore seller excuses.

Re: new delivery scam

You open an eBay return and select the 'Missing parts or pieces' option.

Your seller should then send you a pre-paid returns label. If they do, then return whatever you received, even if it's just an envelope. If they don't, then after 3 business days you can ask eBay to step in and they'll sort it out.

Re: new delivery scam

Thanks both.  I opened the not as described case and the seller accepted the return request but didn't send me a label, so ebay refunded me.

ebay will loose money like this but I guess it's cheaper to do that then police things properly.  Sellers doing this scam tactic need to be sorted out

Re: new delivery scam

Although ebay refunded you,

they usually reclaim the money from the seller.

It will also give seller a defect for not dealing with case properly.

[The seller] didn't send me a label, so ebay refunded me.

eBay will not lose out! eBay refunded you because you paid eBay, but they will reclaim the money from the seller. (To sell on eBay, sellers have to specify a bank account from which the cost of refunds can be taken.) The seller will also receive a damaging defect on their account.

Your negative feedback would also have damaged the seller, if it had not been removed. You must have said something that isn't allowed. Possibly you mentioned involving eBay in getting a refund, which is not allowed.
