a new item specific in costume jewellery: hallmarked YES or NO in costume jewellery!!! Firstly why? Why am I having to specifiy a plastic or glass or wood piece of jewellery is hallmarked or not? It adds to the excess of data for the consumer and for the data centre (costly environmentally and mentally). But more concerning what does ebay mean by "hallmarked" - in vintage and antique costume jewellery - I have previously flagged other items listed as hallmarked which only have a 925 stamp, this is not a hallmark, but apparently those listings are ok in the world of ebay. This is borderline not legal? assay marks and hallmarks are not woolly areas, but ebay is making this woolly, they are bringing in this obligatory specification with no parameters and as they have indicated a loose definition of the word hallmarked: full assay mark, 925, SILVER, 800, 900, 835, 9CT ON STERLING SILVER . . . . and do not even begin to look at the laser printed 925 marks on chinese silver plate . . . . what is a hallmarked yes or no on ebay . . . your guess is as good as a cucumbers. You can't ask ebay the robot chat bot can only state the obvious answers to other questions and currently phone is on pacific times and you cannot e-mail them either.
