I sent an item via Ebays contract with Royal Mail 24 which is insured and tracked, The item was not received by the buyer who received a full refund from me. My question is, who refunds me for the lost item. The Post Office rep has said that as I paid via Ebay it is theirs but on checking the site I can't see where that option is. If I order something on Amazon for instance and I do not receive it, they give me a refund and it is their responsibility to follow it up with the courier.
Thanks

As I understand it, that is what buyers pay a fee (buyer protection fee) for, and if item is lost in the post EBAY refund, not the seller.
Not much point in ebay charging fees if seller is still responsible.

Before the introduction of Simple Delivery, if you bought your RM postage from Ebay, you would have to make a claim through Packlink.
However, is the lost item the gold earrings you sold recently?
Tracked 24 does not cover items made from precious metals so your claim would not succeed.
If it was another item, claim via Packlink.

The BPF has nothing to do with postal insurance. What it does cover is detailed here:
