eBay payment on proof of delivery

eBay have this one wrong.  Linking our sales payments to proof of delivery is replying on a third party out of our control doing their job right. Royal Mail every now and then can take an age to deliver or even misplace a parcel.  Overseas parcels can take up to 4 weeks to deliver relying on overseas customs and postal services updating the tracking. Mean while eBay seats on our money. What is the propose of this new policy?

Is has increased postal costs because a tracked service has to be used, even for very low cost items. Some items are not worth the postage.

Is this change to speed up the despatch times.

As with all these eBay changes time will tell.

A few points to consider before you change anything:

Even Royal Mail standard parcels and Large letters over 100g have a tracking number that will confirm delivery.  You do not have to use a 'tracked' service.

If there is no tracking or no confirmation of delivery, you will get paid 14 days after the transaction.

For low value items (under £10), Ebay will pay you 24 hours after the buyer leaves feedback.  (To be introduced at the end of February)

This is easily solved, upgrade to business account and funds hold won't apply to you.

You are obviously buying to sell, so should have business account anyway.
