delay in payouts - how is ebay making money?

So, was pleasantly surprised (not having sold anything on ebay for a while) that they are following the vinted model and are not charging sellers and they are not taking a cut on postage and packing under Simply Delivery.

So, then I ask myself how are they making their money as the Buyer's Protection is around 6.5% and the previous Sellers Fees were around 12.5%-13.2%.  Then, I realised it must be from hanging on to funds. Buyer paid for an item on the 14th May, I posted the item and it was delivered on the 16th May. I still have not had the funds released to me - it still says Pending yet the buyer has left positive feedback. By the time I transfer the paid sum to my bank account I will be about 9 days. Outrageous. It's a shame they can't base their business model on Paypal and payout instantly.

Yep,  there is a delay in receiving payouts now under Simple Delivery,  it's not instant.

If you have tracking to show delivery ( feedback only counts for items under the value of I believe it's just been raised,  to £25),  your payout is released 2 days after that delivery date.

With no tracking payouts are released after 14 days.

If you are a new  or returning seller there may be longer holds.
