age verification without credit card

Technology may be advancing but not always for the good or for our benefit. Why is it that a 55 year old man cannot buy saw blades unless he has a credit card for age verification. I have been with Ebay for 18 years so clearly I am not less than 18. What has our society become with overkill protection and someone ready to sue at every corner? I wouldn't mind if these steps made a difference but anyone intent on doing themselves or someone else harm will find a way no matter what. Why should we all suffer because the minority has a screw or two loose?

Yep,  those are eBay's rules, they require a credit card on your eBay account,  if you wish to buy any ' bladed item'.

With no card on your account,  this also shows hopefully ,  your responsibility for anyone in your household who may not be of 18 years + ,  to not be able to use your account to buy bladed items.

It not only covers yourself , but members of your household with access to your account.
